    1871 2 Edgar Street, All saints Leominster, Hereford, Herefordshire. Arthur was a Visitor with a William WHITNEY aged 39 a Tailor born Weobly?, Herefordshire. William WHITNEY had a wife and two children and there were two lodgers also with the family.

    I do not think that Arthur John PEARCE married Ann GREY, at least not immediately. I think the children were born with the mothers maiden name or possibly a previous marriage name of GREY. I am also not certain if Arthur's first wife Amelia had died when he had the children by Ann. I also think a lot of the children were not even registered, for instance the Baden Powell PEARCE does not appear as such or as Baden Powell GRAY and the same  happened for the Wilfred we are trying to find, although we have a place of birth and an actual date of birth. The fact it seems to been recorded the Esme/Esma and Wilfred's mother was Annie GRAY seems to add to support to this theory.

There are 11 children on this Census so all of the surviving children are listed.  (She is down as having been married 26 years, but this must be incorrect as on the 1891 Census Arthur is married to an Amelia born in  1855 in Welshpool, Montgomeryshire)

(Age and birth place for Arthur not quite correct, but as he is down as being born in Altrincham (should be Warrington) and some of his siblings were I believe it is correct, also as one of his younger brothers was a Jockey which is an unusual occupation at that time, I also think that points to this being the correct Arthur.

    1911 Malin Court, Thames Ditton, Kingston, Surrey. I think Letitia was at this address, she is the correct age and down as being born in Altrincham, Cheshire. (I believe she was born in Welshpool but her younger siblings were born in Altrincham and she resided there in 1891 so I do believe this is the correct person, She is with a Cuthbert BURGOYNE aged 35 a Wine Merchant born Kew, Middlesex, his wife Beatrice aged 34 born in India and son Gerald aged 8 born Twickenham, Middlesex. There was a Governess and two other servant with the family.

With the family was a Mary JONES a Servant, Married aged 43 a General Servant Domestic born Saltney Cheshire and a Kathleen O'DWYER a Boarder single aged 24 a Sweet Shop Assistant born Kikeway, Ireland.

    There was a child a Leslie SUDDS born September quarter 1911 in Kingston district Surrey with the mothers maiden name as PEARCE who I believe to be a child of this couple

    There is a death for a Baden Powell PEARCE in March quarter 1978 in Claro district, North Yorkshire. We have not found the registration for Baden Powell PEARCE and we believe because of the age on the 1911 Census that he was born in 1901, however the death in 1978 gives the birth date as 27th December 1899.

  21. 1911 Emma tells me that Wilfred PEARCE had a sister Esme and Wilfred's and Esme's mothers name was Annie GRAY. I still cannot find a definite birth for Wilfred on the UK BMD. (We now think that Esme's name was in fact Esma.

     (It seems strange that this is the only other Winifred Helen PEARCE on the Australian Electoral Roll other then the four already found and the person with her is Wilfred).

    POSSIBLE FURTHER CHILDREN     Wilfred GRAY along with the children from Ellen (Nellie) were registered in their mothers name GRAY in Bucklow district, Cheshire. So after Wilfred, there is a Leonard C GRAY registered June quarter 1914 and a Millicent E. F. GRAY registered December quarter 1914 in Bucklow district, Cheshire. These birth are too close but it is possible that Leonard C was registered late and both of them are further children of this family. There is also two children that had died on the 1911 Census of Ann's so it looks as though there are at least 22 children involved in this family.
