Own Account
  1. 1841 Census - Stodmarsh Street, Stodmarsh, Kent
  2. 1861 Census - Village, Wickhambreaux, Kent - Sarah and John had two children on this Census, Frank 3 a Scholar born Wickhambreaux, Kent and George aged 3 months born Wickhambreaux, Kent
  3. 1871 Census - Ryde Street, St Dunstan, Canterbury, Kent. John and Sarah had the following children on this Census, Frank 14 Baker, born Wickhambreaux, George 10 Scholar, born Wickhambreaux, John 6 born Canterbury, Kent, Henry 4 born Canterbury, Kent, Charles 2 born Canterbury, Kent. There was also Sarah KNIGHT mother, widow, 72 Laundress, born Wickham, Kent with the family, so proving I have the correct family.
  4. 1881 Census - 4 Forty Acres, St Dunstan, Canterbury, Kent. Children on this Census - George 20 a Carpenter born Wickham, Kent, John H 17 a Groom born Canterbury, Kent, Henry 14 Scholar, born Canterbury, Kent and Charles 12 Scholar, born Canterbury, Kent. Still with the is Sarah's mother Sarah KNIGHT now aged 80 born Wickham, Kent.
  5. 1891 Census - 12 Whitstable Road, Canterbury, Kent. Her son Henry Aged 24 a Grocers Assistant, born Canterbury, Kent was with her and also a lodger, a William HARLOW, aged 23 a Printers Compositor born Chilham, Kent.
  6. 1891 Census - 28 London Road, St Dunstan, Canterbury, Kent. George and Frances had a son John Hobday PEPPER aged 6 a Scholar born Canterbury, Kent
  7. 1891 Census - District 21st Artillery, Aldershot, Hampshire. There is an Archie GUNSTON, down as brother -in-law but only aged 5 born Sheffield, Yorkshire with Frank and Mary Ann. (found marriage for a Mary Ann GUNSTONE, in June quarter 1885 in Sheffield, Yorkshire.
  8. 1901 Census - 7 The Almonry, Canterbury, Kent. Charles and Mary had two children on this Census - Robert C aged 6 born Canterbury, Kent and Alexander J aged 3 born Canterbury, Kent
  9. 1901 Census - 13 Victoria Terrace, St Peter's Grove, Canterbury, Kent. It appears that by 1901 Frank had remarried, this time to a Hannah STACE in June quarter of 1896 in Elham district, Kent. He had two children by this marriage on the 1901 Census, Frank S age 8 born Fermoy, Ireland and Sidney age 6 born Fermoy, Ireland. I would think that these two children were from his first marriage when he was still in the Army and he remarried when he returned to Kent.
  10. 1901 Census - 25 London Road, St Dunstans Within, St Dunstans, Canterbury, Kent
  11. 1901 Census - District Royal Artillery Barracks, Green Hill Schools, Repository, Gun Park and Observatory, Woolwich, London. John Hobday PEPPER son of John and Frances was a Soldier, age 16, Royal Artillery Band, Rank Boy, born Canterbury, Kent
  12. 1901 Census - 13 Hunter's Buildings, High Street, Margate, Kent. - Found this family on Ancestry.com as PEFFER, but is is definitely PEPPER on the Census. - They Had a John H PEPPER, aged 10 born Canterbury, Kent and a Dorothy E PEPPER, aged 8 born Adisham?, Kent
  13. 1901 Census - Helston House, Addiscombe Road, Margate, Kent. Henry and Florence had two children, Florence E E PEPPER aged 6 born Canterbury, Kent and Lilian M PEPPER, aged 4 born Margate, Kent. With the family and so proving it is correct is Sarah A PEPPER, mother, aged 71 a widow, born Wickhambreaux Kent. - Ancestry.com had this family down as POPPER but it is definitely PEPPER. This completes families for all five of the children.

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
