  1. 1900 US Census - District 881, Melrose Ward 5, Middlesex, Massachusetts, USA.
1910 US Census - District 158, Milford, Hillsborough, New Hampshire, USA
1914-1918 WWI registration - 9Highland, Milford, Hillsborough, New Hampshire, USA
1920 US Census - Milford, Hillsborough, New Hampshire, USA
1930 US Census - Milford, Hillsborough, New Hampshire
1939-1945 WWII registration - 34 Amhurst Street, Milford, Hillsborough, New Hampshire, USA. The person who will always know his address is an Elizabeth M SEARLES, as we do not have a person with this name on these charts I would think he was married and it was his wife's name as he gives the same address for himself. However I have found Arthur L SEARLES on the 1930 Census married to a Georgine and then an obituary for their son Arthur Langley SEARLES in 2009 which states that his father was Arthur Langley SEARLES and his mother was Georgine STEMMERMANN (Perhaps because of the War Georgine became known at that time as Elizabeth so it did not show her German connection, this was quite common in the United Kingdom so the same might have applied in the United States.

Newspaper Obituary for Arthur Langley SEARLES
Arthur Langley Searles, 88, died May 7, 2009, in Bronxville, N.Y.
He was born Aug. 8, 1920 in Nashua, the son of Georgine (Stemmermann) and Arthur Langley Searles Sr. of Milford.
He was a 1938 graduate of Milford High School. He graduated from New York University with his bachelor of science degree in 1942, and his Ph.D. in chemistry in 1946. While at NYU, he won the 1941 award for Best Presenter of a Scientific Lecture from the Draper Chemical Society. He taught chemistry at NYU before becoming a professor of chemistry at the College of Mount St. Vincent and Manhattan College, where he taught for 30 years. In 1977, he won the Bene Merente Medal for Outstanding Teaching at the College of Mount St. Vincent.
While at NYU, he began publishing a science fiction periodical, Fantasy Commentator, which he continued to publish until 2007. The magazine gathered a loyal following in the science fiction community, and he was named the Fantasy Amateur Press Association's Editor of the Year six times, and won an award from C.W. Post College. In addition to his role as editor, he wrote both poetry and prose under his own name and the pen name of Lee Becker.
Langley was married to his best friend, Mary Alice McFall Becker, on June 20, 1969, in New York City. They would have celebrated their 40th anniversary next month. They moved to Bronxville, N.Y., in 1984. After his retirement in 1987, he continued to write and publish. He was also an avid reader, gardener, cook and wine connoisseur.
He is survived by his beloved wife, M. Alice Becker, M.D., and his sister, Caroline Creighton, of Milford. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Catherine Desmarais and her husband, Robert; a nephew and niece, Devin and Alexandra, and a great-nephew, Paxton, all of Vermont.
The funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Joseph's Church in Bronxville on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Langley's memory to St. Joseph's Seminary, Seminary Avenue, Yonkers, N.Y., in support of sacred music studies, or to Mount St. Vincent College, Alumni Association, Riverdale, N.Y.
  4. Details of this child from the obituary of Arthur Langley SEARLES above. It would is also possible that there were other children as he was also survived by his sister in law Catherine Desmarais and her husband Robert, this would appear that this was a second marriage or it would have said brother Robert, so I think Catherine was first married to a brother of Arthur.
  5. See Obituary above. I think this should be another child.

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
