With the family was Louisa SEBBAGE mother down as married aged 59 born Brighton, Sussex 1901 62 Bentham Road, Brighton, Sussex. 1911 29 Ditchling Road Brighton Sussex. 1861 Drove, Portslade, Sussex 1871 Kingston Hotel, Kingston by Sea, Sussex. Ann was a servant with a John JEFFREY aged 59 an Inn Keeper born Ashurst, Sussex and his wife May aged 59 born Ashurst, Sussex and son Alfred aged 27 a Carpenter born Ashurst, Sussex and Walter son aged 25 a Carpenter born Ashurst, Susses and his wife Elizabeth aged 25 born Shoreham, Sussex and their son John aged 1 born Shoreham, Sussex. There was a Lodger a Henry DOWNER aged 41 a Seaman born Isle of Wight. 1881 28 Washington Street, Brighton, Sussex (down as SEVAGE, previous family was SEVAGE on census and ditto's continue for Walter and family) 1891 62 Bentham Road, Brighton Sussex. With the family was Louisa SEBBAGE mother down as married aged 59 born Brighton, Sussex 1901 62 Bentham Road, Brighton, Sussex. 1911 29 Ditchling Road Brighton Sussex. Annie is down as having been married 40 years and having had 8 children 4 survive and 4 had died at the date ot this Census. 1871 Lock Road, Southwick, Sussex. Minnie was with her Grandmother Hannah and Hannah's daughter Sophia 1881 1 Lock Road, Southwick, Sussex. Minnie BRAY is down as a niece aged 10 born Shoreham, Sussex, she is with her Aunt Emily GOOODMAN née BRAY and her husband John. There were two Lodgers John COURTNEY aged 45 a Shipwright born Shoreham, Sussex and his wife Charlotte aged 47 a Nurse born Lowestoft, Suffolk 1891 42 Conway Street, Hove, Sussex. Minnie is with her Grandmother Hannah a Widow aged 70 a Laundress born Rudgwick, Sussex. also with her Clara HILLS Granddaughter aged 18 born Southwick, Sussex and an Ada Louisa BRAY born 4 born Portslade, Sussex 1901 44 Red Cross Street, Brighton, Sussex 1911 113 London Road Elephant & Castle Brighton, Sussex. Minnie is down as having been married 10 years and having had 2 children both survive at the date of this Census. There was a Servant an Ehtel Gertrude BREACH aged 15 a Nursemaid born Burgess Hill, Sussex 1939 14 Crabtree Lane, Worthing R.D., Sussex as a widow. Minnie was living with Alwyn J COTTON (born 21 May 1906) Grocery Provisions Shop Keeper and daughter Irene W C COTTON (born 17 February 1906) Unpaid Domestic Duties. After Irene and before Minnie there were 2 Record Officially Closed entries. 1951 5 Fourth Avenue, Lancing, Sussex (address given at probate) Note I have had a lot of problems with Minnie, but I believe what I have above is correct. Ages are inconsistant but it would appear that Bethel was a lot younger than Minnie so I believe they made him older and her younger on census returns etc so that the age differnce did not appear so big. Family Trees on Ancestry show Minnie to be a daughter of Sophia BRAY but she would have only been 15 when she had Minnie, There is the baptism as shown of a Minnie SEBBAGE in 1880 wih Walter and Annie as parents but I can find no registration for her, so again I think they had her baptised when she was 10 with Minnie SEBBAGE as her name. With extensive searching I have not been able to find a birth or anything else for a Minnie SEBBAGE so I do think she was born as Minnie BRAY.
