    TROY Jean H. Smith, 77, of Cottage St. passed away suddenly Tuesday June 20, 2023 at her home. Death was attributed to natural causes. Born in Warrington, England she was the daughter of the late William and Rene Cliffe Smith. She came to this country as a child and settled in Stillwater for a brief period and then moved to Mechanicville. She was a 1964 graduate of Mechanicville High School.
    Jean had been employed in the office at the former Montgomery Ward Store in Menands and later as a teacher's aide at Mechanicville Public School.
    A very sociable person she enjoyed visiting and talking to friends at local restaurants. She enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, attending local concerts, going to the casino, movies, thrift shopping and reading local history. She was an animal lover as well.
    Survivors include her children, Brian Smith of Niskayuna, David Lewis (Racheal Thomas) of Albany and Karen Smith of Troy. She is the sister of Shirley Werneburg (Richard) of Wilton and Geoffrey Smith of Mechanicville. She is the proud grandmother of Kayla Fitzgerald, Sydney Cartaya, Skyler, Sammy and Sebastian Smith and aunt of Laurie and Kevin Werneburg.
    Funeral services will be Sunday at 4 pm at Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St., (Rte. 32), Waterford.
    Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home on Sunday from 1-4 pm prior to the funeral service.
