  1. 1851 Census - Culver Collery?, Boreham, Essex
  2. A George appears on the 1841 Census aged 1, and a George on the 1851 as aged 7. Having found a George on a later Census born in 1844 in Boreham, I have assumed that the first one died and I have shown this above
  3. 1881 Census - 15 Appleby Road, Hackney, Middlesex. George and Grace had two children on this Census, Sydney aged 2 born Newcastle upon Tyne and Amy I aged10 months born Bethnal Green, London.
  4. 1891 Census - 110 Victoria Street, St Margaret and St John the Evangelist Westminster, London. Other members of the Household, were Sydney E, son aged 12, a Scholar born, Newcastle on Tyne, Northumberland, Amy J daughter aged 8 born Battersea, London, Hamilton D, son aged 4 born Battersea, London, Elizabeth OXENHAM, niece, aged 14 born Bristol, Gloucestershire and a lodger a Henry J BARRINGTON, aged 19 a Messenger, born London.
  5. Have only found this family on the 1881 and 1891 Census. so have not found George on the 1861 or 1871 Census or the family on the 1901 Census
  6. It is possible that this Amy is one and the same child, but she is shown as 10 months on the 1881 Census and as 8 years old on the 1891 Census. I have therefore put in the two with the possibility that the first one died and they named their next child with the same names. The I and the J for the second names could both be the same. I have not checked at the present time on the BMD.
  7. I have been given new information for this Chart by a Jan SORRELL who lives in Devon. This gave me a second marriage and the marriage of Amy and Hamilton. From this I have found the family on the 1901 Census.
  8. 1901 Census - 98 Victoria Street, St Margaret, London. There was a Florence CHALLENER, aged 21 a niece born Wandsworth, London with the family on this Census. Thee was also a Servant. Note Ancestry.com for where this information was found has the name SORRELL indexed as SOWELL and the birth place for George not as Boreham but as Barcham, Essex. This along with the fact that I was looking for a George with a wife named Grace is why I had not found the family before.
  9. From the latest information received I am now certain that their was only one Amy and I have removed the second one I have on this chart. As we now know the one above did not died until 1909. Have found on the BMD as Amy Jessie SORRELL born March quarter 1883, Wandsworth district (which covers Battersea). I now think that she was born in 1880, (ten months on 1881 Census) and they did not register her birth until 1883. (see note 6)

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
