    Direct Hit on their house by V2 rocket in South Norwood, London. Betty was making the last preparations for her marriage and Audrey, who would have been her sister-in-law, came back on leave from the RAF to find a pile of rubble where the house should have been. All they found of Gertie was her wedding ring; Betty was found in the garden, dead, but completely unmarked."

    This was the sole V2 in the area a direct hit on 9-10 Regina Road Sunnybanks. It has been reported that it "Exploded under the foundations with such as force that the houses simply disappeared leaving behind only a water filled crater 23 feet in diameter and 14 feet deep"
