    Margaret "Peggy" SIMPSON née WHEATON, great granddaughter of Annie writes that she "was a German Jew. Therefore all children take the mother's religion". "Judaism is passed on to any children through their mother". She goes on to explain about Charles and Annie's son Ernest. "That is why Ernest is with his mother at Golders Green Jewish Cemetery and my grandmother was buried at Finchley. When I asked my father why his mother was not with his father he said because she was a gentile and not a Jew".

    On the 1901 Census this child is shown as George. The only birth which fits some of the census information is for a John Francis George, father George Charles and mother Annie LIVERMORE. However, the other children shown here have the same mother, but the father is Charles WHEATON. The addresses for the different children are Church Path, Church Street, or Church Yard so for the present it has been decided that they all belong to the same family. More research required!

    On the 1901 Census this child was shown as Nellie, but we believe she could have been Annie Victoria Ellen.
    1911 28 Arundel Road, Croydon, Surrey. Nellie as down as a Domestic aged 14 born ware Herts, and as a Niece with a Charles MUSGROVE a Brewers DRAYMAN born Pimlico, London and his wife Ellen aged 46 a House Wife born Grate Swafton Prior Cambridgeshire. Thee children all born Croydon were Ellen aged 24 a Domestic, Charts aged 22 a Coachman, Albert aged 19 an Errand Boy, William aged 11 a Schoolboy (born Selhurst). There was also a Grace MUSGROVE sister aged 22 a Domestic born Croydon, Surrey with the family. On the 1901 Census this child was shown as Nellie, but we believe she could have been Annie Victoria Ellen.

    On the 1901 Census the child born in 1900 in Ware is shown as Francis. The only child born in Ware in 1901 in the Civil Registration Index was Paul Augustus Bertie WHEATON. On obtaining his birth certificate it shows his father as Charles WHEATON, mother as Annie WHEATON formerly LIVERMORE and birth place as Church Street, Ware. Paul therefore fits into this family, but what happened to Francis? More research required!
