  2. IGI baptism
1841 Census - Medina Terrace, Northwood, Cowes, Isle of Wight, Hampshire. Phoebe's mother was with them.
    1851 Census - 80 Broad Street, Canterbury, Kent. Three children on this Census, one of them as NK for his name, although he down as 5, I wonder why this happened. Perhaps the enumerator did not fill in the details of the persons name.}
It would appear that Phoebe remarried in June quarter 1856 in Canterbury district, Kent to a John ROOTHAM.
1871 Census - Broad Street, Canterbury, Kent. Phoebe was with John on this Census, down as being born Cowes Isle of Wight so proving I have the correct person. Also with them is a Hannah ROOTHAM aged 17 down as being born in Ashford, Kent, but she is down as a Servant.
  3. 1851 Census - Northgate Street, Canterbury, Kent. A Servant and four scholars with John and Elizabeth on this Census.
1861 Census - 86 Broad Street, Canterbury, Kent. There was a Christiana WHITE, Mother-in-Law aged 78 born Dover, Kent with John, I think this was the mother of Pheobe ATKEY above and that she had remarried a WHITE. Christian WOTTON is with him and down as a daughter, there were also two boarders.
1871 Census - Broad Street, Canterbury, Kent. Phoebe was with him on this Census, down as being born Cowes Isle of Wight so proving I have the correct person. Also with them is a Hannah ROOTHAM aged 17 down as being born in Ashford, Kent, but she is down as a Servant.
1881 Census - 53 St George Street, Canterbury, Kent. John was a Boarder with a Frederick MUDOFORD and family.
  4. 1851 Census - Northgate Street, Canterbury, Kent
Possibility of marriage June quarter 1842 in Chesterton, Cambridgeshire, her name being either Elizabeth NORMAN or NORRIS, the mother Christiana WHITE shown on the 1861 with John I think must be the mother of Pheobe, not Elizabeth, therefore is would appear that she married again as well.
  5. 1841 Census - Medina Terrace, Northwood, Cowes, Isle of Wight, Hampshire.
1851 Census - 80 Broad Street, Canterbury, Kent
1871 Census - High Street, Charing, Kent
1881 Census - 9 High Street, Ashford, Kent. Five children and three servants on this Census.
  6. 1841 Census - Medina Terrace, Northwood, Cowes, Isle of Wight, Hampshire.
1851 Census - 80 Broad Street, Canterbury, Kent
1861 Census - South Street, Dorking, Surrey. An servant to a Charles ROSE and his family.
1881 Census - Waterloo House Post Office, Farlington, Hampshire (seven children on this Census)
  7. 1851 Census - 80 Broad Street, Canterbury, Kent
1861 Census - 86 Broad Street, Canterbury, Kent
There is a marriage for Christian Larkins WOTTON but I cannot find a Christian on the Censuses which would tie up with Christian above and the BMD gives nobody else other than Christian on the page.
On an Ancestry.com Family Tree the third child is down as Christian L WOTTON, this does not tie up with the age on the 1851 Census.
  8. 1861 Census - 86 Broad Street, Canterbury, Kent
1871 Census - Paddington, London. John was a Lodger with a Gebulon GILBERT
1881 Census - Boutport Street, Barnstable, Devon. He had a servant, a Grace NEWCOMBE aged 28 a Domestic Servant born Tavistock, Devon, with him.
1891 Census - Prospect House, Grove Road, Ventnor, Isle of Wight, Hampshire. They had a son John H ROOTHAM aged 8 born Barnstable, Devon. Have not found parents on 1901 but the son John H was living as boarder aged 18 at 36 Cambridge Park Road, Islington, London with a William LEITCH and family, he was an Electrical Student.

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
