Dacombe vs Derby - Undated but of the Reign of Henry VIII or
Edward VI.
Plaintiff John Dackombe gent & many others were "the tenants and in ....... of the manor of Horton" Dorset, & complained that Thomas Derby gent. farmer of the said manor did ".... & unquiet" the tenants in the matter of drivers highways & commons in the manor & by unjustly imposing fines on them. The defendant answers that the said Dackham "having been all the ..... of his ... a mash combe ...ous wilful & seditious .... son" had induced the other tenants to commence these proceedings & for the last three years "had vexed & troubled the said Derbye in the country". The fines had been imposed because the tenants had failed in their duty of appointing the various officers of the manor.

Derby vs Dackham - undated but of the reign of Henry VIII or
Edward VI.
The plaintiff Thomas Derbye gent states that the late Abbot & Convent of Sherbourne, now dissolved, by indenture date 4 Sept 18 Henry VIII (....) had "demised & letts farm" to John Dackham of Horton gent & Johanna his wife all the lands, meadows, rents etc belonging to the Priory of Horton & also a barn and stable, called the nether barne & another stable & also a sheppey .. to have & to hold all the aforesaid premises to the said John Dacham & Joanna his wife & their assigns for thirty years next following paying yearly to the said abbot & Convent & to the Prior of Horton £5-10-0 and by deed Dackham & his wife were also bound to keep in repair the roofs of all the houses covered with straw, diver of which houses are now in decay & ruin and the said John Dackham died having made his wife Elizabeth his executer, who is now sued concerning the reparis of the said houses.

Dackum vs Bell - dated 15 August & 26 Sept 14 Elizabeth.
Francis Dackum vs Margaret bell for the suit concerned tenements call Hogford ...... in the manor of Kingston Layce now "in variance" between plaintiff & defendants. Dependents state the John Dackum gent deceased, plaintiffs father "did serve King Edward VI the in the wares under the leadage of Sir John Rogers against the late Rebells comoted in the west ...... (Sir John Rogers being farmer of the manor of Kingston Lacy). John Dacum served in these wars as a "petty captayne" & "was hurt betwixt the eye & the nose with an arrowe". It is suggested that in consideration of his services he procured from Sir John Rogers the grant of the reversion of the copyholds in dispute to his son the said Francis Dackum.

Dackum vs Bell - dated 15 Jan & 26 Sept 16 Elizabeth.
William Moore of Stoke Wake, Dorset gent as guardian & next friend of John Dackome, Sara Dackome & Dorothy Dackome infant children of Francis Dackome late of Kingstone Lacye Dorset, deceased complains that the said Francis was seized of copyhold for lives in a messuage or tenement & certain lands in the Queen's manor of Kingston Lacy & that the deceased als owned goods, household stuff & implements of husbandry to the value of £80 and the said Francis by his will gave the residue of all his property after payment of certain legacies to his said children & made them his executors. And the testator also appointed as overseers the plaintiff (whose daughter the testator had married), the testators brother Henry Dackome, gent, who were to apply the profits of the said copyhold to the benefit of the said John Dackome during his minority. And of the children Sara lived with the plaintiff & the other two with Henry Dackome And the defendant Henry Dackombe is charged with appropriated the said copyhold to the use of himself and his own children - the defendant Henry Dacombe and .... on the 22 May 1599 that Francis Dacombe had been seized of the said copyhold for his life with reversion to his son John for his life. And Francis at his death left a wife who was a lunatix whose maintenance had given defendant much expense. And defendant moreover had kept John Dacombe at school & "doth maintain him in such .... as becometh his estate & degree". And defendant had procured for John Dackombe a grant of the copyhold for three lives . . . the fine of 100 marks which was paid with the money of Robert Dacombe the defendants brother.

And Collet died about Christmas last having appointed an executor Thomas Hannam Esq (the defendant) who had...... the legacies & paid nothing for the maintenance or education of Edyth.

Plaintiff John Dackombe of the parish of Wimborne Minster, Dorset, gent states that his father being ........ in a copyhold tenement & an ancient customary will lying at a place call Hogford in the manor of Kingston Lacy in the parish of Wimborne Minster had a right of way to the will through the arable fields of ..... Careton at whose desire plaintiffs father plaintiff succeeds him in tenement & will ... used the new way but reserved his right to the ancient way but now finds himself debarred from using either way. And the plaintiff after his fathers death was interested in certain grounds call Gaunts which adjoin some of Carltons lands & over which Carlton had a right of way. And plaintiff had built a house at Gaunts & "enfenced" a little piece of ground before the windows of the house & this entailed an alteration in the road used by Carlton who objected to the alteration.

But defendant had failed to give plaintiff possession of the land

Plaintiff was Elizabeth Arnold widow of John Arnold of Stowell, Somerset, gent, who had in 6 (James I) lent £400 to Nicholas Dacombe of Temple Coombe Somerset, gent (now deceased). At an inquisition held by the Sherriff of Somerset it had been found that Nicholas Dacombe was seized of land in Stowell for divers years determinable on the deaths of the said Nicholas & Melior his wife and William their son. And Nicholas & Melior had died about 12 years since & William Dacombe now claimed the lands

Plaintiff William Dackombe of Sheen Surrey, gent was son of Nicholas Dackombe of Sheen, gent deceased & states that lands at Abbots Combe, Somerset valued at £250 a year had been held in trust for John Dacombe late of the parish of St Mary-le-shaud alias 'the Savoy' Middlesex Esq. sometime on the of the masters of the Kings Majesty's Court of Whitehall & afterwards Sir John Dackombe Knight Chancellor of His Highness Dutchy of Lancaster. And the trustee by indenture of 13 James I granted the farm let the sands farm to Nicholas Dackombe (brother of the said Sir John Dackombe ______________ & on the lives of the said Nicholas Dackombe ____________ Melior his wife & the plaintiff their son __________ in 20 James I (_____) had mortgages the land to John Cason of London, g . . . . & in consequence of his debts had been outlawed so the the lands were forfeited.

Plaintiff Richard Dackombe of Hogford, Dorset, gent was executor of the will of his father John Dackombe gent, deceased & states that the said John Dackombe about 1646 had purchased from Richard Noores of Upper Kingston in the parish of Ringwood Co. Southampton a lease for 21 years of a tenement paying his tenants there for his food washing etc., but afterwards ceased to do so & went to the Isle of Wight & died in 1610 leaving a will which plaintiff owing to the latter having spent a good part of his estate "in the unhappy warres" in which plantiff "was enforced to leave his habitation & suffered imprisonment". The suit concerned money matters between plaintiffs fath & his tenants name Watson & Keep.

Henry Dackombe of Corfe castle, gent (an infant under 14 years suing his guardian Laurance Saint . . gent) states that he was eldest son & heir of Edward Dackombe of the same, deceased, who had in his lifetime filed a bill in chancery against Andrew Loden & others setting forth that Edward Dackombe of the Isle of Purbeck Esq (grandfather of the said Edward Dackombe) had been seized in fee of the capital messuage & lands called Scoles alias Scouiles farms & other lands in the Isle of Purbeck & the said Edward Dackombe (the present plaintiffs great grandfather) had issue "by one venter" and eldest son named Robert Dackombe & Mary Dackombe (both now deceased) & "by another vender" Bruen Dackombe (grandfather of the present plaintiff, now deceased) & the said Robert Dackombe inherited Scoles farm from his father but as Scoles was "anciently the lands of the Dackombe's" Robert's father had directed that in default of any issue of his own to leave the farm to Bruen. But Robert being a wea . . man "was prevailed upon to make some conveyance to the lands to his sister Mary (who had married Thomas Morton gent) & to her son Charles Morton of the Isle of Purbeck gent & Charles Morton after Bruens death & in the lifetime of his mother by indentures of lease & release dated 1st and 2nd April 1678 had for £60 conveyed Scoles farm to Edward (plaintiffs father). But Andrew Loder & brother defendants have conspired to defraud plaintiff of his rights etc.
