    Biggins
    The funeral of Mr. John Biggins, aged 60 of 2 Woodsome-drive, Whitby, Ellesmere Port, whose death was reported last week, took place on 4th August, when a service at St. Thomas's Church, Whitby, was followed by cremation at Landican.
    Mr. Biggins, who was a native of Chester, came to Ellesmere Port in 1936. Earlier in his life he had been employed by Williams and Williams Ltd. Reliance Works, Chester, but the major part of his working life had been spent at the Shell Reginery where he was employed as a pumpman up to the time of his retirement.
    A keen churchman, he was a sidesman at St Thomas's Church, and a member of the local branch of the Church of England Men's Society.
    An outdoor sports enthusiast, Mr. Biggins served for many years on the committee of the Chester Football Club. He also was an ardent bowler, having played for Shell for many years, and when he died he was winning his game against his Conservative Club opponent.
    He also was a member of the Shell old time dancing club.
    Mr. and Mrs Biggins were married at Christ Church in 1936, his wife being a member of a Gravesend family who moved to Ellesmere Port towards the end of the First World War.
    He is survived by his wife, a daughter and twin sons.
    The service at St. Thomas's Church where the coffin had lain overnight, was conducted by the Vicar, Canon Gordon Robinson.
    The mourners were: The widow, Mrs Pearl Bailey (daughter), Messrs. Sydney and Victor Biggins (sons), Mr. and Mrs G Foster, Mr. and Mrs Vic Barnard (brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law), Mr. R. Hignett and Miss J Hignett.
    Members of Shell Bowling Club acted as bearers. There were: Messrs. C. Orme, S. Millington, L. Morgan and Large.
    The undertakers were Co-operative Funeral Services Ltd.

    The funeral took place on Monday of Mrs. Maud Grace Kathleen Biggins, of John Nicholas Crescent, Ellesmere Port. Mrs Biggins, known as Kitty to all her friends, was 83. She died on 5th December in Ellesmere Port Hospital.
    Mrs. Biggins is survived by two sons and a daughter.
    A funeral service at Landican crematorium was conducted the the Rev. Stan Walker.
