  1. Information from Andy Brown who is a grandson of Kathleen TICKNER and Walter BROWN- Charles Brown's father was William Brown ( abt 1837) who shows on the 1871 census with wife Lucy(1837) , and children James(1868), Louisa (1864), Charles, Alfred (1870) and William(1866) and Arthur (1873)
  2. 1871 Census - Rock Place, Godalming, Surrey
  3. 1901 Census - Primrose Place, Witley, Surrey
  4. 1891 Census - Primrose Place, Witley, Surrey
  5. 1881 Census - Rock Place, Godalming, Surrey. There was a Martha HARRIS aged 41 a Housekeeper born Donneton, Wiltshire with the family.
  6. IGI Baptism
  7. IGI Marriage (possible)
  8. IGI Baptisms and births
  9. IGI Baptism (possible)
  10. 1861 Census - Glazes Lane, Ash, Farnborough, Surrey - Not 100 per cent sure this is correct, but ages for William, Lucy and Charles all correct, BUT they are all down as being born in Ash, Farnborough, Surrey which is not correct and it is not all that close to Godalming area. Whatever way I search on Ancestry.com this is the only one is Surrey that comes up. With them was a Ellen BROWN, sister, aged 11, also down as being born in Ash, Surrey.
  11. 1851 Census - Royal Common, Peper Harow, Surrey. Father of Lucy, William COVER, aged 53 an Ag Lab, born Shilroleg?, Surrey, mother, Elizabeth, aged 50 born Peper Harow, Surrey. There were two sisters and a brother of Lucy's on the Census and two Grandson's, will sort out when I put Chart on for family.
  12. 1851 Census - Monk? Grove, Wanborough, Surrey. William was the eldest child on this Census at 14 and he was an Ag Lab, his mother Mary was a widow, aged 39 born Godalming, Surrey. William had six younger siblings which will be shown when I put on a Chart for this family.
  13. 1841 Census - Monks Grove, Wanborough, Surrey. William still the eldest, so nothing else to add until I put Chart on other than the father was alive on this Census and was a William, aged 30, an Ag Lab and born in Surrey. (IGI marriage has a William BROWN married to a Mary NASH on 19th April 1835 in Worplesdon, Surrey, which I think could be the correct marriage for the parents of William.
  14. 1841 Census - Peper Harow, Surrey (next property says Royal Common). Lucy is 4 and she has a younger sister, Elizabeth who is three months, and there are three older siblings. William COVER is the father is a Labourer.
  15. IGI Baptism. Baptism of Lucy and other siblings of Lucy
Eliza COVER baptised 9th September 1832 Peper Harow, Surrey
Charles COVER baptised 31st August 1834 Peper Harow, Surrey
Lucy COVER baptised 8th January 1837 Peper Harow, Surrey
Ellen COVER baptised 30th June 1839 Peper Harow, Surrey
Elizabeth COVER baptised 23rd May 1841 Peper Harow, Surrey
James COVER baptised 21st January 1844 Peper Harow, Surrey
  16. 1891 Census - 13 Raphael Street, St Margaret's, Westminster, London. Child - William F aged 7 months born Paddington, London.
  17. 1901 Census - 3 Rashleigh Street, Clapham, London. They had a son James W, aged 8 months born Clapham, London
  18. 1891 Census - 7 Montague Street, Brighton, Sussex. There was a Charles BROWN, aged 8, a Scholar, born Brighton, Sussex with the family, a Phoebe MATTHEWS, sister, aged 34, a Domestic Servant, born Farnham, Surrey, who I would think was the sister of Rose, as she is down as single, and a lodger, a William R BUTLER, a Sailor, born Freshwater, Isle of Wight, Hampshire
  19. 1901 Census - 7 Montague Street, Brighton, Sussex. I had a problem finding this even though it is the same address as the 1891 Census. I finally looked for Charles BROWN born in 1883 in Brighton, Sussex. What has come up is that Charles is there, there is no son Edward who would have been born in 1889, and there is no William, Phoebe MATHEWS is still living there and is still down as a sister, aged 44 a Domestic Servant born Farnham, Surrey, so proving it is the correct family but the Head is a Rose SATCHER aged 51 a widow born Farnham, Surrey, living on own account. So it would appear that William had died (and possibly Edward) between 1891 and 1901 and that Rose then married a ??? SATCHER who had then also died before the 1901 Census. Will try and find more, ie BMD marriage for Rose, death BMD for William and possibly Edward. Charles BROWN who I have not placed as Grandson as yet was down as a Brewers Lad. Found the marriage of Rose BROWN to a Henry James SATCHER in the June quarter of 1895. Have found Henry James's death and the most likely one for William, there are 10 William BROWN deaths between 1891 and 1901 but none with a birth shown as 1837, but the one I think it is has a birth in 1836 so is the most likely, and it is before 1895 when Rose married again.
  20. 1871 Census - Beechwood, Hamsey, Sussecx. This Census shows a Henry J SATCHER born in Hamsey, Sussex with the correct aged with parents John and Mary SATCHER. He had lots of siblings. At this stage just trying to identify him.
  21. 1891 Census - 32 Hereford Street, Brighton, Surrey. - SATCHER spelt as SACHER but certain correct person, He was single, correct age and born in Hamsey and living in Brighton, so it ties up. He was an Ostler
  22. 1861 Census - Castle Street, Farnham, Surrey. Rose was on this Census as a Scholar, and so was Phoebe who was 4, so certain correct family. Parents were William aged 39 a Cordwainer born Farnham, Surrey and his wife was Sarah aged 40 born, Sutton, Sussex. There were nine children in total on this Census. I have also found Rose on other censuses, but will put details if and when I put a Chart on for the family.
  23. 1881 Census - Needwood? House, Hindhead Road, Godalming, Surrey. Appears to have been a School, lots of Boarders aged 13-17. The head was a Clergyman/Schoolmaster of Church of England ???.

This Chart has grown with finding that William married again to Rose, original information being provided by Andy BROWN, however by finding Rose again on the 1901 Census and finding she had married yet again it has made the chart very large. I am sure more can be added. I was originally going to add the Chart back for the next BROWN family but have spent a lot of time working on this one, so that will have to wait for another day.

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
