  1. 1841 Census - 33 Peppercroft Street, Milton, Gravesend, Kent.
1851 Census - 33 Peppercroft Street, Milton, Gravesend, Kent. There was a John BROWN aged 70 a Chelsea Pensioner born Leith Staffordshire with the family.
Year and place of marriage from IGI but submitted by a member of the LDS Church and they had 1847 but I feel it should be 1837.
  2. Belander dies 12 days after her last child John was born
  3. 1841 Census - 33 Peppercroft Street, Milton, Gravesend, Kent. (down as Ann on this Census)
1851 Census - 33 Peppercroft Street, Milton, Gravesend, Kent. There was a John BROWN aged 70 a Chelsea Pensioner born Leith Staffordshire with the family.
1861 Census - 33 Peppercroft Street, Milton, Gravesend, Kent.
1871 Census - 59 Clarence Street, Milton, Gravesend, Kent. Her Granddaughter, down as BELLENDER is with her on this Census.
On her marriage certificate Mary gives her father's name as Charles Attwood GILL who was her Step Father.
  4.
  5.
  6. 1841 Census - 33 Peppercroft Street, Milton, Gravesend, Kent.
  7. 1851 Census - 33 Peppercroft Street, Milton, Gravesend, Kent. There was a John BROWN aged 70 a Chelsea Pensioner born Leith Staffordshire with the family. (Because of the position in the Census, ie after the other children and also the way it is written, ie it looks as though the ditto for the surname has been added as an afterthought, I am, at the present time, not convinced that David is part of this family, the other children have an s or a d to show son or daughter, David does not, so it is possible he was just an Apprentice with John and his name was something like David HARRY. He did not appear on the 1841 which is my other reason for not being certain he is part of he family.
  8. 1841 Census - 33 Peppercroft Street, Milton, Gravesend, Kent.
1861 Census - 10 Barrack Row, Gravesend, Kent. Two children on this Census. Also with the family was Belinda CAREY aged 17 down as sister and a visitor born Gravesend, Kent
  9. 1841 Census - 33 Peppercroft Street, Milton, Gravesend, Kent.
1851 Census - 33 Peppercroft Street, Milton, Gravesend, Kent. There was a John BROWN aged 70 a Chelsea Pensioner born Leith Staffordshire with the family.
  10. 1851 Census - 33 Peppercroft Street, Milton, Gravesend, Kent. There was a John BROWN aged 70 a Chelsea Pensioner born Leith Staffordshire with the family.
1861 Census - 33 Peppercroft Street, Milton, Gravesend, Kent. (Again this really started as a guess but I think I have finally solved the puzzle - on this Census there is a Mary Ann CAREY as head at this address, she is 53 a Lodging house keeper, a widow born Canterbury, Kent. THEN with her is an Ann CAREY ,  daughter, (not Mary Ann but as it was her mother it is  likely she was called Ann) she is down as being 19 (1842) in Gravesend, Kent and is a Milliner (note on the 1901 Census above she is a Dressmaker) and THEN with them is John Lloyd (see 1871 Note 1 above) he is 9 months and is down as a Nurse Child born Gravesend, Kent, so again ties in with 1871 Census. Possibly it is was Mary Ann CAREY's child and the fathers name was LLOYD or they might have just taken him in from another family and Mary kept him when she married, so it seems to confirm my thoughts on the 1871 Census and also I think that James married Mary Ann CAREY and not Mary Ann LIVERMORE and I have changed the information on the chart above to show this. Also on this Census at the address above was a Alicia BROADER aged 10 a niece, born Gravesend, Kent a visitor a Sarah CORNISH, aged22 a Domestic Servant born Famlingham, Kent and a total of eight boarders.
1871 Census - No 1 Lawn Cottages, Northfleet, Kent.
1881 Census - 31 Portland Road, Northfleet, Kent
1891 Census - 36 Hillhouse Road, Stone, Kent
1901 Census - 8 Woodland Cottage, Stone, Dartford, Kent. Mary Ann was with her son James Robert
  11. 1851 Census - 33 Peppercroft Street, Milton, Gravesend, Kent. There was a John BROWN aged 70 a Chelsea Pensioner born Leith Staffordshire with the family.
    IGI Marriage information

The original information for this Chart started with a contact through Genes Reunited from a James and Liz PHILLIPS, I then started adding information using Ancestry.com, the IGI, BMD's and various other sources. I then found http://www.greathead.org/Index.htm which covers in detail the CAREY and TURMAINE families and a lot of the information has been taken from that site. My thanks to Jan COOPER the originator of that site for a wonderful bit of investigative Family History which has saved me hours of work. This is a fairly remote connection to my own family and comes through my wife's side POLTON - STEDMAN - PAGE - CAREY.

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
