  1. 1871 Census - No 1 Lawn Cottages, Northfleet, Kent. (this is very much a guess, (but I now think is is correct) but at this address is a James PAGE, aged 34 (1837) born Camden Town, Middlesex and he is a Cooper, (Clerkenwell on 1881 Census  but in the same area and age not quite correct) His wife is Mary, 29 so born 1842 in Gravesend, Kent, so this ties up with Mary above. Then there is an Edward PAGE, so we do not have him, but he is down as 6 and born in Gravesend, Kent, so is this really Leonard and that was what they put him down as. On the next page of the Census there is a John Loyd (sic) who is part of the family and he is down as 10 an adopted son, a Scholar, born Gravesend, Kent, so this would tie in with the first child John above, both possible marriages for James and Mary are after the date John would have been born, and I cannot find a John PAGE on the BMD so it is quite likely that John was adopted for some reason or other. This covers the family as it would have been in 1871 except for Belinda which I cannot find at all, have searched with all alternatives I can think off as I thought it possible she might be with Grandparents and that this might solve the marriage problem we have with James and Mary, was it Mary Ann LIVERMORE or Mary Ann CAREY or indeed neither of these. Have now found Belinda as I wanted it on the 1871 Census, she is down as Bellender PAGE and she is indeed down as Granddaughter with Mary CAREY, so proving beyond doubt that this was the correct marriage.
1880 - 31 Portland Road, Northfleet, Kent (James, William and Margaret's baptism, they were baptised together)
1881 Census - 31 Portland Road, Northfleet, Kent
1882 - 31 Portland Road, Northfleet, Kent (Baptism of Annie Sophie)
1885 - 31 Portland Road, Northfleet, Kent (Baptism of Emily Albina)
1891 Census - 36 Hillhouse Road, Stone, Kent
1901 Census - 8 Woodland Cottage, Stone, Dartford, Kent. James was with his son James Robert
1911 Thames View, Horns Cross, Woodland, Stone, Greenhithe, Kent. They had a son Robert John Page aged 2 months born Stone, Near Greenhithe, Kent. With them was James Robert's mother and father James Hindmarsh PAGE and Mary Ann PAGE.
Father - Robert PAGE. Cannot find James on the 1841 or 1851 with a father Robert, There is just one on the 1841 Census but James is down as being 8 months old so born in 1840 and I think he was born before then, if by chance his is the correct one he is living in Haggerston, Shoreditch, London, no matches at all on the 1851 Census.
  2. 1851 Census - 33 Peppercroft Street, Milton, Gravesend, Kent.
1861 Census - 33 Peppercroft Street, Milton, Gravesend, Kent. (Again this really started as a guess but I think I have finally solved the puzzle - on this Census there is a Mary Ann CAREY as head at this address, she is 53 a Lodging house keeper, a widow born Canterbury, Kent. THEN with her is an Ann CAREY ,  daughter, (not Mary Ann but as it was her mother it is  likely she was called Ann) she is down as being 19 (1842) in Gravesend, Kent and is a Milliner (note on the 1901 Census above she is a Dressmaker) and THEN with them is John Lloyd (see 1871 Note 1 above) he is 9 months and is down as a Nurse Child born Gravesend, Kent, so again ties in with 1871 Census. Possibly it is was Mary Ann CAREY's child and the fathers name was LLOYD or they might have just taken him in from another family and Mary kept him when she married, so it seems to confirm my thoughts on the 1871 Census and also I think that James married Mary Ann CAREY and not Mary Ann LIVERMORE and I have changed the information on the chart above to show this. Also on this Census at the address above was a Alicia BROADER aged 10 a niece, born Gravesend, Kent a visitor a Sarah CORNISH, aged22 a Domestic Servant born Famlingham, Kent and a total of eight boarders.
1871 Census - No 1 Lawn Cottages, Northfleet, Kent.
1880 - 31 Portland Road, Northfleet, Kent (James, William and Margaret's baptism, they were baptised together)
1881 Census - 31 Portland Road, Northfleet, Kent
1882 - 31 Portland Road, Northfleet, Kent (Baptism of Annie Sophie)
1885 - 31 Portland Road, Northfleet, Kent (Baptism of Emily Albina)
1891 Census - 36 Hillhouse Road, Stone, Kent
1901 Census - 8 Woodland Cottage, Stone, Dartford, Kent. Mary Ann was with her son James Robert
1911 Thames View, Horns Cross, Woodland, Stone, Greenhithe, Kent. They had a son Robert John Page aged 2 months born Stone, Near Greenhithe, Kent. With them was James Robert's mother and father James Hindmarsh PAGE and Mary Ann PAGE. Mary is down as having had 12 children 8 survive and 4 have died at the date of this Census.
Father - John Marsh CAREY, Mother Mary Ann.
  3. 1861 Census - 33 Peppercroft Street, Milton, Gravesend, Kent. (see Note 2 above for 1861 Census)
1871 Census - No 1 Lawn Cottages, Northfleet, Kent.
1881 Census - 31 Portland Road, Northfleet, Kent
1891 Census - 50 York Road, Northfleet, Kent. (There are two John PAGE's born in Gravesend in 1861 but I think that this is the correct one on this census as he is living in Northfleet which is where the family moved to and he is a Cooper, his occupation in 1881.
IGI - a birth has been submitted for a John PAGE with a James Hindmarsh PAGE and a Mary Ann CAREY as parent with the date 6th January 1870, this cannot be correct as we know that John was born about 10 years earlier than this and he shows as this age on the 1881 Census
  4. 1871 Census - 59 Clarence Street, Milton, Gravesend, Kent. down as BELLENDER and as a Granddaughter her grandmother was Mary CAREY,  a widow aged 65 born Canterbury, Kent.
1881 Census - 31 Portland Road, Northfleet, Kent
1891 Census 41 York Street, Northfleet, Kent
1901 68 Queen Street, Milton, Kent. Henry STEDMAN aged 44 Bricklayer (Jobbing) born Northfleet, Kent, Bellinda (sic) STEDMAN aged 39 born Gravesend, Knet, Elizabeth Ann STEDMAN aged 18 Dressmakers Assistant born Northfleet, Kent, William A STEDMAN aged 17 Bricklayers Apprentice born Northfleet, Kent, Henry Jno aged 15 Bricklayers Apprentice born Northfleet, Kent, Bellinda (sic) M STDEDMAN aged 14 Pupil Teacher School born Norhtlfeet, Kent, Octavious C STEDMAN aged 10 born Northfleet, Kent, Elizabeth STEDMAN Mother Widow aged 81 Living on Own Means born Chatham, Kent, George STRATTON Boarder aged 33 Dock Labourer born Aldershot, Hampshire, George MANLEY Boarder aged 32 Dock Labourer born Limehouse, London, Sarne? HEUNERALEY? Boarder aged 25 Dock Labourer born Reading, Berkshire.
  5. 1911 68 Queen Street, Gravesend, Kent. Henry STEDMAN aged 54 Bricklayer, Shopkeeper General born Northfleet, Kent, Belinda STEDMAN aged 49 down as having been married 29 years and having had 6 children 5 survive and 1 had died at the date of this Census, Assisting in Business born Gravesend,, Kent, Elizabeth Ann STEDMAN aged 28 Assisting in Business born Northfleet, Kent, Belinda Margaret STEDMAN aged 24 Grocers Assistant born Northfleet, Kent
Father - James Hindsmarsh PAGE, occupation Cooper
  6. IGI birth and baptism, he comes up with the batch number with Belinda and Leonard, but strangely Belinda is down as being baptised at Christ Church and James and Leonard are down as Holy Trinity, birth dates are given for James and Leonard and not for Belinda. They are extracted from actual records, not from a member of the LDS church, so more likely to be correct. As this child has the same names as another child born in 1875 I would assume he died before this date.
  7. 1871 Census - No 1 Lawn Cottages, Northfleet, Kent.
1881 Census - 31 Portland Road, Northfleet, Kent
1891 Census - 36 Hillhouse Road, Stone, Kent
1901 7 Woodland Cottage, Stone, Dartford, Kent. There was a June EVELEIGH? a niece aged 10 born Strand, London with Leonard and his wife. They were living next door to James Robert who was Head, his father and mother and two sisters.
On the IGI birth and death information submitted by a member of the LDS church is information for a Leonard PAGE with father as James Hindmarsh PAGE and mother Mary Ann CAREY, but they have him as born 14th August 1872 which is incorrect. Therefore the death in 1932 might also not be correct.
  8. 1881 Census - 31 Portland Road, Northfleet, Kent
1901 Census - Minster Precincts, Peterborough, Northamptonshire. Emily PAGE, sister in law, aged 16 born Northfleet, Essex with them, there is also a Boarder, a John F PAGE aged 22 a Gardener Domestic born Leicester, Leicestershire. (although surname of PAGE I do not think he is connected to this family)
  9. 1880 - 31 Portland Road, Northfleet, Kent (James, William and Margaret's baptism, they were baptised together)
1881 Census - 31 Portland Road, Northfleet, Kent.
1891 Census - 36 Hillhouse Road, Stone, Kent
1901 Census - 8 Woodland Cottage, Stone, Dartford, Kent. James was Head of Household, but his parents were with him, and sisters Margaret and Ann, next door was Leonard and family, and next door but one was William John his wife and daughters.
1911 Thames View, Horns Cross, Woodland, Stone, Greenhithe, Kent. They had a son Robert John Page aged 2 months born Stone, Near Greenhithe, Kent. With them was James Robert's mother and father James Hindmarsh PAGE and Mary Ann PAGE.
IGI - Marriage and death information comes from this source, submitted by a member of the LDS, the marriage seems to fit the information on the BMD.
  10. 1880 - 31 Portland Road, Northfleet, Kent (James, William and Margaret's baptism, they were baptised together)
1881 Census - 31 Portland Road, Northfleet, Kent
1891 Census - 36 Hillhouse Road, Stone, Kent
1901 Census - 5 Woodland Cottage, Stone, Dartford, Kent. Children Mary Christina aged 1 born Stone, Kent and Martha Louise, aged 3 weeks born Stone, Kent
IGI death information, submitted by a member of the LDS Church, in this case they have the birth date correct.
  11. 1880 - 31 Portland Road, Northfleet, Kent (James, William and Margaret's baptism, they were baptised together)
1881 Census - 31 Portland Road, Northfleet, Kent
1891 Census - 36 Hillhouse Road, Stone, Kent
1901 Census - 8 Woodland Cottage, Stone, Dartford, Kent. Margaret was with her brother James Robert
  12. 1882 - 31 Portland Road, Northfleet, Kent (at baptism)
1891 Census - 36 Hillhouse Road, Stone, Kent
1901 Census - 8 Woodland Cottage, Stone, Dartford, Kent. Annie was with her brother James Robert
IGI death information submitted by a member of the LDS Church.
  13. 1885 - 31 Portland Road, Northfleet, Kent (at baptism)
1891 Census - 36 Hillhouse Road, Stone, Kent
1901 Census - Minster Precincts, Peterborough, Northamptonshire. With her married sister Matilda on this Census.

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
