    Obituary for Eldon Vaughn CARTER
    Eldon V. Carter, 79, died August 27, 1995.
    Born Ammon, Idaho November 30, 1915, the 12th and last child born to Alma Orlando and Mary Caroline Carter. Served a full time mission in the Southern States, 1940-42. Married Annie La Ree Madsen in the Salt Lake LDS Temple June 16, 1941. Positions held in LDS Church: bishop, High Councilor, president of Young Men; president of Sunday School; home teacher; and ordinance worker in the Jordan River Temple. Raised on a dry farm in Ammon, Idaho. Worked at Kennecott Copper Corp two years to earn enough money to serve a full time mission for the church. Worked for Henry J. Kaiser, building ships for the U.S. Navy in Richmond, Calif. (San Francisco Bay area) during World War II. General contractor in the Salt Lake area for over 30 years, specializing in residential construction.Genealogical research and writing. Many relatives and acquaintances and family members have benefited from his family history writings and poetry.
    Spent many years caring for his wife, who suffered from a long term illness. Was well respected in the community and had a reputation of integrity and perseverance. Preceded in death by wife and grandson, Dustin Carter.Was noted for his beautiful, trained tenor voice. Inspired many through the musical talents he developed during his lifetime.
    Survivors: children, Mrs. C. Stephen Boyd (Kathleen), Cleveland, Ohio; Robert Vaughn Carter (Louise), Cedar Hills; Mrs. James B. Hamilton (Peggy), Riverside, Calif.; James Eldon Carter (Linda), Salt Lake; Bent W. Smart (Denise), Sandy; 24 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
    Funeral services Thursday, August 31, 1995, 12 noon, Midvale Union Fort Stake Center, 7200 So. 540 East. Viewing Wednesday, 6-8 p.m. Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 So. Highland Drive, and one hour prior at the church. Interment, Mountain View Memorial Estates, 3115 East 7800 South. Funeral directors, Cottonwood Mortuary.
