    PARK VALLEY PIONEER PASSES ON.
The angel of death called Mrs. Alice CARTER, widow of the late Erastus CARTER and pioneer resident of Park Valley, Wednesday morning. Some little time ago Mrs. CARTER suffered a paralytic stroke and her advanced years prevented her system from successfully withstanding the shock.
Mrs. CARTER was 72 years of age and in company with her husband went to Park Valley many years ago being among the pioneer settlers of that valley. She was the mother of eleven children, four of whom have preceded her to the other life. Those surviving are E.W. CARTER, John CARTER, Irwin CARTER, Frank CARTER, Mrs. Henry CHADWICK, Mrs. C.W. OBITUARY: Box Elder News Newspaper 16 April 1908
    Park Valley --
Once more the people of this place have been called to mourn the untimely death of one of earth's fair daughters in the person of Mrs. Sylvia OLSEN.
For a long time now, about three months we think, Mrs. OLESEN has been a great sufferer. In the winter she took ill with pneumonia. Later a more deadly and pernicious disease took hold on her, superinduced by the pneumonia. About a month after Mrs. OLSEN took ill it was deemed advisable to take her to Brigham where she could be closer to medical assistance. At this time scarlet fever broke out in the family and the trip was postponed for three weeks. A short time after her arrival in Brigham she gave birth to a child. But nature seemed unable to cope against the afflictions and death ensued.
While the entire community of which Sylvia (as every one was wont to call her who had the pleasure of an acquaintance with her) formed an integral part, were not shocked nor overly surprised at the termination of affairs, it was nevertheless most acutely pained. For a long time Sister OLSEN has been one of the most faithful workers in the ward. In some instances she has been the main stay of the organizations over which she presided. Particularly is this true of the Y. L. M. I. A. with which she has been identified in an official capacity for years. At times it has been an uphill task but she never murmured nor faltered, but kept steadily onward, having as her mentor that axiom: "the race is not to the swift nor the battle to the strong, but to he who endures to the end." She has kept the faith and fought a good fight, and henceforth there is laid up for her a crown of righteousness. We have heard a great many expressions of affection and admiration for Sylvia and her many good quality, all of which speak very loudly for her.
As a daughter she was always mindful of her parents and their wishes. As a wife, fond, devoted and true. As a mother, all that any child needs to be reared in the fear and admonition of God, and that is saying a great deal.
Sylvia Ameret Carter OLSEN was born Feb. 20, 1874, at Laketown, Rich County, Utah. Died April 8, 1908, at Brigham City, Utah. Interment in the Park Valley cemetery, April 12, 1908. Deceased was the daughter of E. F. And Alice E. CARTER. She leaves besides a husband, four children.
At the services which were held in the Park Valley school house, Sunday, April 12, many words of comfort to the bereaved and of eulogy of the dead, were spoken by Elders J. N. MORRIS, Jacob Kunzler, J. G. CHADWICH, C. GOODLIFFE and J. W. PALMER, who also presided over the services. The grave was dedicated by J. P. OLSEN of Brigham.

    Special Correspondence.
Park Valley, Boxelder Co., Aug. 13. - On Aug. 10 Walter Floyd Carter, the 16-year-old son of Erastus F. and Alice E. Carter, succumbed to the ravages of Bright's disease, after an illness of nine weary months. He was a bright, lovable and obedient boy, and none knew him but to love him, and he will be greatly missed not only by his immediate family but by the entire community. He was born here Dec. 13, 1887. The funeral services were held in the schoolhouse, and were largely attended. Bishop James M. Palmer presided, and a quartet of young ladies rendered sweet music. Loving tributes to the memory of the departed and consoling remarks to the bereaved were made by Stake President Charles Kelly, Bishops Palmer and A. Goodliffe. The large cortege was headed by a guard of honor, composed of six schoolmates of the deceased, mounted on horses.

  13. The information for this chart only gave one couple that went on and hardly any marriages of the other siblings, I have found all of them who lived to be adults, but at present the information for Censuses etc is not fully transcribed, There is so much work to do to the Carter Charts I will hopefully get back to this one in the future and find all the information on the various censuses etc.

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
