    1901 Garland Road, Longfleet, Dorset as Thomas  In 1901 Thomas gives his birth place as Bere Regis, in 1891 his brother Richard gives his as Arne both in Dorset. I think that both men were born in Wareham, in the Workhouse, as their address was the Workhouse for 1861 and 1871. However, neither would probably want to say that was where they were born, so in later life Thomas gives his birth place as Bere Regis, and Richard gave Arne as his birthplace.

    William Thomas seems more likely given the name of his father, but Ernest, the son born in 1900 had the second name Gilbert, so that could be a family name for the DEAN family. However a William G has now been found in another family, so we have concluded that the William Thomas registration belong to this William
