1871 23 Alfred Road, St Mary, Paddington, Middlesex Indexed as GARTTRIE on ancestry
1875 31 Alfred Road, Paddington, Middlesex (address at marriage)
1881 66 Londesborough Road, St Mary Stoke Newington, Middlesex Indexed as HARTBREE. Living in same property as brother George and his family. Living with them was wife's sister Alice FRENCH (16) Ironer born Paddington, Middlesex. (Problem.... as FRENCH was not the name shown for Charles's wife)

  2. 1875 31 Alfred Road, Paddington, Middlesex (address at marriage) Father Frederick POND? (not really readable).  Dyer (Mary Ann ARCHER was down as a widow) (from further comments in these notes I think that possibly the fathers name was FRENCH and he was a witness to the marriage. This would make all the other comments in these notes correct. finding this marriage on 10th September 2010 has proved that Mary Ann had been married before and I have shown the comments in the notes as details on the chart above. This could still be incorrect, so I have left the original comments in the notes.
1881 66 Londesborough Road, St Mary Stoke Newington, Middlesex Indexed as HARTBREE. Living in same property as brother of husband, George and his family. Living with them was "wife's sister" Alice FRENCH (16) Ironer born Paddington, Middlesex. (Problem.... as FRENCH was not the name shown for Charles's wife)
1891 58 Gibson Buildings, Stamford Hill, Hackney, Middlesex Indexed as HARTTER
1901 58 Gibson Buildings, North Hackney, Hackney, Middlesex. Indexed as HARTTREET (and two pages further on)
1911 39 Gibson Garden, Stoke Newington, London
The 1875 marriage was definitely between Charles HARTTREE and Mary Ann ARCHER. So, had Mary Ann been married before?
There were two ARCHER/Mary FRENCH marriages, both in December quarter 1873, one to William in Marylebone District and the other to Walter Thomas in the Kensington District.
No death was found for a William ARCHER before the HARTTREE/ARCHER marriage.
But there was a Walter Thomas ARCHER death in the March quarter of 1874 in the Hendon District of Middlesex. Walter was born about 1852.
It is possible, therefore, given the name of the sister on the 1881 census that Mary Ann FRENCH married Walter Thomas ARCHER in December quarter 1873 in Kensington District, Middlesex. He died in March quarter 1874, and Mary Ann ARCHER née FRENCH then married Charles HARTTREE

  3. I have now found the marriage for Mary Ann FRENCH and Walter Thomas ARCHER, I think this proves that all the above is correct. The Father is Frederick FRENCH as it should be. This was a double wedding Mary Ann's sister Eleanor FRENCH was married at the same time, to a Shadwell? ROGERS the witnesses for that marriage was F FRENCH and Marian ROGERS the occupations for Frederick FRENCH the father for both marriages was a Dyer which ties up with the occupation for Frederick FRENCH on the second marriage of Mary Ann.

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
