  1. 1841 Winkworth Farm House, Godalming, Surrey (ages have been rounded up and down to at least nearest five years). On this Census appears near the end of the list instead of the beginning, he is followed by an Elizabeth and then another William aged three. I think that Elizabeth is Williams wife and they appear at the end as they were married and living with the family and the William aged 3 is their son. This is what I have shown above. Might be able to confirm looking at a later Census.

    Information from John WANSTLL 5/6/2006
The following account was written about Charles HEATHER by my mother’s sister; as a child she spent a great deal of time at her grand parent’s home.
A grand daughter of Charles HEATHER, Vera Edith WANSTALL[nee SIMMONDS] wrote this account of her grandfather:-
At the time I knew them they lived in the White House, Hascombe, near Godalming Surrey, and I believe my mother Mary [the first born daughter of Charles HEATHER & Ruth STEMP] was born at Bramley, Surrey.
Charles and Ruth had sixteen children, most of whom managed to survive. Of the children I knew, 'Uncle Fred' who married Edie (no children), Auntie Nell [Ellen] who married and had one son, Harold (moved to Cornwall). Uncle Alan, married to Ada, no children, Uncle Len, married to Daisy (no children), Uncle Percy who died in the Great War), Uncle Will married to Jessie three children (twins) and a daughter, Auntie Emily, widowed early, with one son Ronald; (I now know that Emily married Sydney HAYWARD, he was killed in a tragic mining accident in south Wales, a few months after their marriage] Auntie Florence married to Bert, one son, Bertie, Auntie Grace married to Herbert, no children, Uncle Arthur married to Leah, two daughters, also Auntie Ruth - not married, having died at only Age 16.
Grand-Father Charles HEATHER, he was about medium height (fairish) and a gentle but tough customer if necessary. He is best described, as a tough but gentle little man, not over short but not over tall, either, probably about 5-ft. 5 inches. On Sundays he always went to the little village church, he was sides-man there. Off he would go in his best Sunday black suit, always complete with black bowler, a very respectable and much respected man, Mr. HEATHER. On one occasion, though, tramping across the hills with his week's wage in his pocket, on his homeward way, two idlers jumped out from the thicket where they had been lurking and attempted to rob him of his wages. They really got more than they bargained for, the first one being flung out of the fight by him, the second recoiled, having been implored by his partner, "For God's sake, leave him alone Harry, he's a proper little terror", And away went my grandfather Charles HEATHER on his way, complete with his wages - of which he had no intention of parting with.
It just so happens, I do know and this I record for the benefit of any children who may come after me and be interested in the family History. Vera Edith Wanstall. 19731861 Thorncombe Street, Bramley, Surrey

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
