  1. 1851 Cross Street, Northam, Devon. - There was a Charlotte BERTON (BRITTON) staying with this family, sister-in-law, aged 19 a Dressmaker, born Clovelly Devon.

  3. 1871 Census - 5 Fower Street, Northam, Devon
1881 Census 11 Bone Hill, Northam, Devon
1891 The Hall, Southstoke, Bath, Somerset. I found this completely by chance. I could not find on 1891 and search for a Emma born in Upper Westland, Wiltshire. The Emma on the 1901 and 1911 Census came up as expected with Emma HUTCHINGS as I had already found them on these Censuses but on the 1891 it came up with Emma SHEPPARD daughter of Henry SHEPPARD aged 51 A Gardener Domestic, born Upper Westwood, Wiltshire and his wife Elizabeth aged 50 born Monkton Combe, Somerset. The daughter Emma is indeed there but she is married to William HUTCHINGS who is down as Son9inLaw a Stone Mason born North Devon. So Eureka, they also have a son a Henry W aged 4 months born Southstoke, Somerset, so confirming this is the right couple Henry W appears with those details on the 1901 and 1911 Census. William HUTCHINGS is down correctly as son in Law. There are also other children for Henry and Elizabeth, Elizabeth aged 12 a Scholar born Farleigh, Wiltshire, Ada A aged 9 a Scholar born Fairleigh, Wiltshire and Edward aged 7 a Scholar born Hinton, Somerset.

1905 51 Yerhead Road, Paddington, London (baptism of Winifred Olivia)
1911 Census - 97 Lavenham Road, Southfields, London. With the family was Fred THOROGOOD and his wife Harriet, Harriet was the sister of Minnie HUTCHINGS above, also with the family was Evelyn WAKEHAM down as a visitor, aged 32 married born Northam Devon and her son William aged 6 months born Clapham Park, London (Evelyn was also a sister of Minnie). Also with the family was William HOARE Brother, aged 31 a Plasterer born Hartland Devon. Minnie on this census is down as having had two children both survive at the date of this Census, these are Evelyn and Winnie.
1926 and 1928 97 Lavenham Road, Southfields, London (London Electoral Roll) With Frederick and Harriet were George Henry and Minnie Hoare, there was also a William Thomas HOARE, was this a son or was it still the brother of George Henry.
1929 and 1930 97 Lavenham Road, Southfields, London (London Electoral Roll) With Frederick and Harriet were George Henry and Minnie Hoare, there was also a William Thomas HOARE, was this a son or was it still the brother of George Henry. Also listed were their children Evelyn Mary HOARE and Winifred Olivia HOARE

1946 97 Lavenham Road, Southfields, London (London Electoral Roll) With Frederick and Harriet were George Henry and Minnie Hoare, there was also a William Thomas HOARE, was this a son or was it still the brother of George Henry. There was also daughter Winifred Olivia HOARE. The son George Henry HOARE (junior) was not with family on this Electoral Roll, but on another Electoral Roll for the same year he does appear. I would think he was in the forces as after his name is (AXA/4919:90)
1947, 1950, 1951, 1952, 1953 , 1955 and 1956 97 Lavenham Road, Southfields, London (London Electoral Roll). As I had already found Harriet had died before this Electoral Roll so she does not appear. The HOARE family is still with Frederick, including son George Henry HOARE still with (AXA/4919:90) after his name) (Still no Evelyn Mary). Frederick died in December 1955 so I would think Electoral Roll details had gone in before he died and he appears on the 1956 Electoral Roll.
1960 97 Lavenham Road, Southfields, London (London Electoral Roll). All the known HOARE family on the Electoral Roll including Evelyn Mary. This is the last return when they appear. I have not added but they also appear on the 1957, 1958 and 1959 Electoral Roll.

This chart really came into being through my Mother-in-Law's ramblings (which she did a lot in her late life but as she was at that stage more than a little senile, it was a job to make sense of what she said. However having spent some time working at it the chart above with the help of what is available on line has come into being, most of what she said has been incorporated into the chart and has proved correct, at the time we did not even know which family or people she was talking about, but after her death we found her postcard album and photo's and found that she was talking about her Uncle, his wife who was Aunt Artie to her and she appears to have been very fond of. Aunt "Artie" Harriet on the chart above had two sister Minnie and Evelyn who she also spoke of. As can be seen there were three other children but these were never mentioned.
The original notes had mother's ramblings on, but I have now rearranged as it was getting out of hand. So we do not lose this comment I have listed them under Harriet ("Artie")
Harriet appears to have had two sisters, one of them Evelyn and the other possibly Min. One of these was married to a Harry HOARE. It is suggested that Evelyn died when she gave birth to a son Willie. They lived at one stage at Twickenham.
Maude Elizabeth THOROGOOD kept mentioning a Hutchings-Hoare in her ramblings. We feel that it must be connected with this family as the name was HUTCHINGS and this witness was named HOARE
We believe again from Maude Elizabeth’s ramblings that there were three children. This has been backed up by reading through the postcards in Maude Thorogood’s postcard album given to her by Aunt Artie (Harriet Hutchings?) in June 1914 In 1906 a Miss Hutchings lived at Carisbrooke House, Twickenham Park. Card sent from Hanwell and signed A. Another card dated 29th November 1909 is to a Miss E Hutchings. We believe this to be to Evelyn HUTCHINGS, Harriet’s sister.
  8. 1881 Census 11 Bone Hill, Northam, Devon
1891 3 Fairfax Cottages, Wick Road, Teddington, Middlesex. The head of the household is a Frank Tiffin age 26 Painter, born Wimbledon, Surrey, his wife which is the connection is a Mary Tiffin aged 32 born Northam, North Devon, they have a daughter Kate aged 8 who is a Scholar, born in Teddington, Middlesex and also living with the is a Arthur J Bailey, Brother-in-law aged 20 a Printers Compositor, born in Twickenham, Middlesex. Perhaps on the death of both parents John and Harriet and in 1889 and 1890 various members of the family took on the children and Mary took the three youngest daughters to the  Wimbledon district knowing they could get jobs in service, for by 1901 Evelyn was also working as a Servant
1901 51 Fernhead Road, Paddington, London. Evelyn is down as a visitor but her occupation is Housemaid. She is visiting her sister Minnie who by then was married to a George H Hoare.
1906 Carisbrooke House, Twickenham Park, Middlesex
1909 There is a card to Evelyn from my mother-in-law to the address above
1911 Census - 97 Lavenham Road, Southfields, London. With her married sister Harriet and her husband and also Minnie HOARE, another sister.

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
