Siblings Albert aged 13 a Mason's Labourer, George aged 10 then Joseph, following by Reginald aged 5 and Kathleen aged 3 all born Hereford, Herefordshire. 1911 2 Guildford Street, Hereford, Herefordshire. Father Joseph aged 53 a Stone Mason, (Building) born Garway, Herefordshire. Mother Mary aged 56 married 29 years and having had 6 children 5 survive and 1 has died at the date of this Census, she was also born in Garway, Herefordshire. Siblings Kathleen aged 12 School born White Cross, Herefordshire and Reginald aged 14 no occupation born Whitecross, Herefordshire. Notes Information from Commonwealth War Graves Commission web site Son of Mr. and Mrs. J. S. MEREDITH of 2, Guildford St., Hereford; husband of Mrs. M. W. MATTHEWS (formerly MEREDITH), of 23, Berthllanlwdd Cascade, Pengam, Cardiff, Glamorganshire Basra is a town on the west bank of the Shatt-al-Arab, 90 kilometres from its mouth in the Persian Gulf. The cemetery is about 8 kilometres north-west of Basra 1901 26 Farm Street, St George, Hanover Square, London. There were two lodgers with the family a Tom READER aged 25 a Coachman Domestic born Baglan, Monmouthshire and a Charles P JOHNSON a Stable Help aged 16 born Bridgewater, Somerset 1911 Not found at present 1916/1921 23, Berthllanlwdd Cascade, Pengam, Cardiff, Glamorganshire”. I do not think this information was put together until about 1921. It is the record of the death of Mabel’s husband, “son of Mr. and Mrs. J. S. MEREDITH of 2, Guildford St., Hereford; husband of Mrs. M. W. MATTHEWS (formerly MEREDITH), of 23, Berthllanlwdd Cascade, Pengam, Cardiff, Glamorganshire” 1898 Parents James Frederick and Maud Eliza (at baptism) 1901 11 Berkeley Square, Bedminster, Bristol Father downs a Frederick J aged 29 a Coal Miner born Bedminster, Somerset (Somerset crossed through and Bristol inserted), Mother Maud E aged 27 born Exmouth, Devon, Siblings Annie M aged 5 and Ethel M aged 6 months both born Bedminster, Bristol. I cannot find a Sarah Caridwen JONES so possibly she was married before. However although on the BMD as Caridwen a family tree has her as Ceridwen but unfortunately gives not further information. On the BMD there are 9 Sarah Ceridwen JONES so I am no further forward to when she was born, and she still might have been a widow at the time of marriage so her maiden name might not have been JONES.
