  1. 1861 Alma Cottages, North Chapel, Sussex.
1871 Valentine Hill, North Chapel, Sussex
1881 Census - "The Sun", Witley, Surrey
1891 Census - 31 Victoria Road, Godalming, Surrey
  2. 1861 Alma Cottages, North Chapel, Sussex.
1871 Valentine Hill, North Chapel, Sussex
1881 Census - "The Sun", Witley, Surrey
1891 Census - 31 Victoria Road, Godalming, Surrey
1901 Census - 31 Victoria Road, Godalming, Surrey. Appears to be a little problem with this Census, It must be our Elizabeth as correct age and living at the same address as in 1891 and down as a widow, but with her is a son Harvey age 19 which does not appear on the other censuses. It appears to say Margaret on the 1891 Census, but I will check, definitely not Harvey. He might be a twin of Margaret and was staying somewhere else on the 1891 Census.
Elizabeth PETO (the wife on this chart) had a brother John who married and Ellen and one of their children was Emily PETO, she married George NEWMAN the second child on this Chart.
  3.
  4. 1861 Alma Cottages, North Chapel, Sussex.
1871 Valentine Hill, North Chapel, Sussex
1881 Census - "The Sun", Witley, Surrey
1891 Census - George was married and living at Birtley Road, Bramley, Hambledon, Guildford, Surrey,
Elizabeth PETO (the wife on this chart) had a brother John who married and Ellen and one of their children was Emily PETO, she married George NEWMAN the second child on this Chart.
  5. 1861 Alma Cottages, North Chapel, Sussex.
1871 Valentine Hill, North Chapel, Sussex
1901 Census - 10 Catteshall Lane, Godalming, Surrey.
1911 Census - 55 Catteshall Lane Godalming, Surrey
On the BMD his Christian name appears as Leoni_us, so the "o" missing so it appears it shoud be as we have it "Leonious"
  6. 1861 Alma Cottages, North Chapel, Sussex.
1871 Valentine Hill, North Chapel, Sussex
1891 Census -   23 Victoria Road, Godalming, Surrey
1901 Census - 16 Victoria Road, Godalming, Surrey.
1911 Census - Unstead Mill Shalford, Surrey
  7. 1871 Valentine Hill, North Chapel, Sussex
  8. 1871 Valentine Hill, North Chapel, Sussex
1881 Census - Servant at "The Woodpigeon Inn" Godalming, Surrey
1911 Census - Reservoir Sheet Petersfield, Hampshire.
  9. Not on 1871 Census
  10. 1871 Valentine Hill, North Chapel, Sussex
It is possible that Mary Ann NEWMAN married an Alfred REDMAN, but I cannot confirm this as I cannot find a marriage. On the 1891 Census was a Mary Ann REDMAN aged 23 which would be the correct age, living with Alfred at Pound Green Cottages, North Chapel, Sussex. She already has four children. William, Alfred, Mary and Emily. On the 1901 Census she is in Croydon, as wife but with no husband at home, William is with her and a son aged 3 who was born in Croydon. Have not entered on chart as not certain this is the correct Mary Ann.
  11. 1871 Census - Valentine Hill, North Chapel, Sussex
1881 Census - "The Sun", Witley, Surrey
1891 Census - Wormley Hill Grocer's Shop, Godalming, Surrey. Frank was a Servant to a Jethro ROLLETT and family, Jethro was 50 a Grocer, Coal Dealer and Fly Proprietor born Nottingham.
1901 Census -  76 Drummond Road, Stoke within, Stoke next Guildford, Guildford, Surrey.
1911 Census - 76 Drummond Road Guildford, Surrey
  12. 1881 Census - "The Sun", Witley, Surrey
  13. 1881 Census - "The Sun", Witley, Surrey
1891 Census - 31 Victoria Road, Godalming, Surrey
1901 Census - These is a Fred NEWMAN who I think is the correct person as his age is correct, but he gives his birth place as Godalming not New Chapel, again they are close and he is down as a Boarder at 24 Eastbourne Road, Old Brentford, Middlesex, as a General Labourer Age 27.
  14. 1881 Census - "The Sun", Witley, Surrey
1891 Census - 31 Victoria Road, Godalming, Surrey
1901 Census - Wilfred was married and living at Shackstead Lane, Godalming, Surrey. They had a boarder William E Elson, age 21 a Bricklayer's Labourer, born Godalming, Surrey
1911 Census - 35 Shackstead Lane Godalming, Surrey
  15. 1881 Census - "The Sun", Witley, Surrey
1891 Census - 31 Victoria Road, Godalming, Surrey
1901 Census - There is an Ernest Arthur NEWMAN who I think is the correct person as his age is correct, but he gives his birth place as Godalming, not Witley, but they are virtually the same place and this Ernest was in the Royal Field Artillery as a Gunner at District Deepcut Barracks Thirty Third Brigade Division Royal Field Artillery, Frimley, Surrey, so it is possible he gave his birth place as the nearest known town.
  16. 1891 Census - 31 Victoria Road, Godalming, Surrey

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
