  1. 1861 Census - Lane Cottage, Coates, Sussex. There was a Grandson, James aged 1 born Petworth, Sussex with the family, I assume a son of John and Jane who were living with the family. On the IGI there is a Betsey NEWMAN baptised 29th September 1861, Coates cum Burton with a John and Jane NEWMAN as the parents. I believe this is a child of John and Jane on this Chart above.

  3. 1871 Census - Skinners, Pulborough, Sussex
  4. 1881 Census - Upper Jordans, Pulborough, Sussex There was an Ellen BOXALL niece aged 17 no occupation, born Arundel, Sussex and a Mary RUSSELL aged 3, adopted, believed to be born in Tunbridge Wells, Kent
  5. 1901 Census - Upper Jordans, Pulborough, Sussex. there was a Nelly SMITH a niece, aged 16 born Nutbourne Place with John and Caroline, there were also two Boarders
  6. 1891 Census - Upper Jordans, Pulborough, Sussex. There were also two boarders with the family and also Nelly SMITH niece aged 6 down on this Census as being born in Pulborough, Sussex.
