  1. 1861 Census - 6 Hopes Yard, Ramsgate, Kent - Living with this family was Rachel COCK boarder, servant age 19 born Broadstairs, Kent and her son (son of servant) Henry M COCK 1 month, born Ramsgate, Kent
1871 Census - 6 Alma Road, Ramsgate, Kent
1881 Census - 1 Dove Place, Ramsgate, Kent. On the 1881 Census there is a Fanny OVENDEN down as daughter the same age as George, but she has not appeared before. However George who is 21 is down as married so I wonder if Fanny is really his wife and it should be daughter-in-law. I have therefore left for the moment with this note. Will either add another child or make Fanny married to George if I can prove either of the alternatives on the 1891 Census. There is a birth place for Fanny which was Hammersmith, Surrey, which has been crossed out with a large black crayon.
1891 Census - John and Rose were living at 9 Belmont Street, Ramsgate, Kent, with them was a Alfred OVENDEN, grandson age 11 born Ramsgate, Kent and a Louisa PLUCK, age 11 niece born Ramsgate, Kent. Will have to see if I can find where they fit in.
1901 Census - John and Rose were still at 9 Belmont Street, Ramsgate, Kent and Alfred OVENDEN grandson age 21 was still with them, he was a Journeyman Butcher.
  2. 1861 Census - 6 Hopes Yard, Ramsgate, Kent - Living with this family was Rachel COCK boarder, servant age 19 born Broadstairs, Kent and her son (son of servant) Henry M COCK 1 month, born Ramsgate, Kent
1871 Census - 6 Alma Road, Ramsgate, Kent
1881 Census - 1 Dove Place, Ramsgate, Kent. On the 1881 Census there is a Fanny OVENDEN down as daughter the same age as George, but she has not appeared before. 3. 1861 Census - 6 Hopes Yard, Ramsgate, Kent - Living with this family was Rachel COCK boarder, servant age 19 born Broadstairs, Kent and her son (son of servant) Henry M COCK 1 month, born Ramsgate, Kent
1871 6 Alma Road, Ramsgate, Kent
1881 3 Monteford Cot, Hereson Road, St Lawrence, Ramsgate, Kent
1891 Not found, not with rest of family
I am told that William John died in Hartlepool and in 1894, his body was put on the train and transported back to Ramsgate where he was buried at Ramsgate Cemetery in December 1894. My informant also tells me that following William's career through advertisements in The Era, it seems he pursued his craft in many towns and cities in England. I think starting his career as Manager/Entertainer of Ramsgate Pier.
  4. 1861 Census - 6 Hopes Yard, Ramsgate, Kent - Living with this family was Rachel COCK boarder, servant age 19 born Broadstairs, Kent and her son (son of servant) Henry M COCK 1 month, born Ramsgate, Kent
1871 Census - 6 Alma Road, Ramsgate, Kent
1881 Census - 2 Temperance Cottage, Ramsgate, Kent
1891 No 1 Eagle Yard Cottages, Ramsgate, Kent
1897 9 Belmont Street, Ramsgate, Kent
1901 1 Reginald Terrace, St Lawrence, Ramsgate, Kent
1911 13 Thanet Road, Ramsgate, Kent
1931 OVENDEN James Francis (the elder) of 20 Dane Park-road Ramsgate died 2 July 1932 Probate London 18ovember to Elizabeth Frances Ovenden widow. Effect £467) National Probate Calendar)
  5. 1861 Census - 6 Hopes Yard, Ramsgate, Kent - Living with this family was Rachel COCK boarder, servant age 19 born Broadstairs, Kent and her son (son of servant) Henry M COCK 1 month, born Ramsgate, Kent
1871 Census - 6 Alma Road, Ramsgate, Kent

There is a birth place for Fanny which was Hammersmith, Surrey, which has been crossed out with a large black crayon.
1891 Census - This confirms that Fanny was the wife of George and not the daughter of John. The Hammersmith also seems to be relevant as on the 1891 Census George and Fanny were living in Acton, Middlesex, although on the 1891 Census it says Brentford, Middlesex as her birth place,  so they had moved to Fanny's birth place area. They were living at 49 Bollow Bridge Road, Acton Middlesex. The full details were: George OVENDEN, Head age 32 General Labourer, born Ramsgate, Kent, Fanny OVENDEN wife age 32 born Brentford, Middlesex, George OVENDEN, son age 9 scholar, born Ramsgate, Kent, Edith OVENDEN, daughter, age 7 Scholar, born South Acton, Middlesex, John OVENDEN, son age 5 born South Acton, Middlesex and Nellie OVENDEN, daughter, age 2 born South Acton, Middlesex.

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
