Family History, Shepherd Chart 0501 Henry Shepherd and Kitty Stevens

1851 Census - Gomshall, Shere, Surrey. There was a lodger a James BRISHAW with the family. He was 66, a retired shoe and boot maker, born Shere, Surrey IGI Baptisms. I have only found Mary Ann on the IGI at the present time. (Winifred) Ann is down as Winifred Ann on the IGI but down as Ann on the 1851 Census. I can find no baptism for John at the present time. 1861 Census - Shere Street, Shere, Surrey. Henry was a lodger with a family called HUMPHREY on this census. We know that Jane was married by this census, so it only leave Lucy who I have not been able to find on this Census. 1871 Census - Pitland Street, Shere, Surrey. They had a daughter, Sarah L, aged 1 born Shere, Surrey. Writing again very bad on this census, same person as writing on Note 19, I cannot read the birth place of Kitty, it looks as though it starts with Horse and the e of he Horse is quite clear and it says Surrey, so this tends to rule out Horsham which is in Sussex but the only name I can think of that starts with Hors. Ancestry.com has come up with the name Harsewell, Surrey which is a possiblity. Then looking on Google I cannot find a Harsewill but Horsewell is he most likely answer to this. I might find that it is clearer on a later census. 1881 Census - Shere Village, Shere, Surrey. Three children on this Census. 1891 Census - Cottages, Shere, Surrey. One daughter still with them, there was an Eliza WHALE (MIALE -Ancestry interpretation), aged 50 (70) Sister-in-Law - an Association Nurse Sick, born Horsell, Surrey, which throws into doubt the details of the marriage date and maiden name of Kitty. It might therefore not be STEVENS but WHALE, as Eliza is down as being single. On the other hand it could have been the second marriage of Kitty as she is six years older than Henry. I would think this is the most likely answer to this problem. Having looked at the Censuses I cannot be sure what the answer to this problem is. It appears that Horsell is where Kitty was born and a Kitty STEVENS comes up for this at the correct age, and she was a servant in 1851 with the name STEVENS, so I feel I have the correct person and correct marriage, but where does Eliza come in. I cannot find an Eliza STEVENS born in Horsell, but I also cannot find anyone with a name like WHALE or MIALE, so I am back to square one. 1901 Census - Lower Street, Shere, Surrey. One child on this Census. I have put these charts and the ones off of it as SHEPHERD, on many of the Censuses it is spelt SHEPHARD, so it is more than possibly that this is the spelling and the descendants of these families might have it spelt with the A and not the E.
