RICHARDSON
  1. 1862 Union Street, Lambeth (address at marriage)
1871 Census - 12 Acre Lane, Newington, Surrey
On the 1881 Census there was a family living at 54 Albany Road, Camberwell, the Head was a Joseph W SIMPSON Aged 30 Undertaker born Walworth, Surrey. At first glance this would appear to be the same family, if the W stood for Wade and the fact that he was an Undertaker from Walworth. I have not added him to the chart below as he would have been born in 1851, and therefore it would not have been possible to come from the family below, but it is possible that he belonged to the previous generation with Henry (note 1 above) as his father and a brother to Henry Wade below, the rest of the family was Mary A Wife aged 26, William C Son 2 and Rose and Emily F both aged 4 months all born in Camberwell, Surrey. There was a memorial card dated August 1900 with J W Simpson 96 Albany Road, Old Kent Road on it which would have been the above family and I am told that Henry Simpson owned two funeral parlours, one in East Street Walworth and the other in East Dulwich, Aquilla had premises in Albany Road, Camberwell, which again seems to tie up with the above information.
1891 Census -  48 Queen Street, Walworth, Surrey. There was an Emma DACKOMBE niece aged 10 born Walworth, Surrey with the family. Mary Ann Elizabeth RODGERS née SIMPSON, her husband and children were in the same premises

  3. 1864 - 23 Eltham Street, Walworth, Surrey. Father given on birth certificate as Henry Simpson, Master Shoemaker, Mother Mary Ann Elizabeth Simpson formerly Dackombe
1871 Census - 12 Acre Lane, Newington, Surrey
1881 42 Herman Road, Camberwell, Surrey
1891 Census -  48 Queen Street, Walworth, Surrey. There was an Emma DACKOMBE niece aged 10 born Walworth, Surrey with the family. Mary Ann Elizabeth RODGERS née SIMPSON, her husband and children were in the same premises

1904 56 Elsted Street, Walworth, Southwark, London (baptism of Annie Maria)
    1911 Census - 7 Jesmond St Walworth S E
I have added Mary to this chart as I found on the 1881 Census under the family FORD, see Charts DACKOMBE 0500 and FORD 0400 that a Mary A SIMPSON was living with them aged 16, down as a niece, occupation artificial flower maker. She can only come from this family.
  4. 1871 Census - 12 Acre Lane, Newington, Surrey
1891 Census - 47 Libra Road, Stratford le Bow St Mary, London (have not been able to find this family before on this Census but they are down as ANDREW but is it definitely the correct family)
1901 Census - 15 March Hill, Hackney, Clapton, London.
1911 Census - 14 Elmington Road Camberwell S E. With the family was an Elizabeth Sarah BURTON a Boarder aged 29 (1882) (possibly the wife to be of Francis JOLIN) a Relief Stamper born St Mary, Walworth.
Information from Doris Attwood, granddaughter of Alfred J A Jolin and Sarah Simpson, and daughter of Alf Jolin:
“[Sarah’s] life was made easier by her brothers Quill and Harry in that they gave her a weekly allowance for herself and children. Inevitably, Grandpa benefited by their generosity and relieved him of making provision, which I suppose was just as well, given the fact that he was no longer able to follow his trade as a brush maker, having had two fingers chopped off from his right hand by irate fellow card players when he was caught cheating. (1997 letter)
Re a photo of Alfred: “taken from a postcard size group at a convalescent home where he was recovering from an operation for stomach cancer. He died some two years later …… his right eye is clouded (cataract).”
1891 Census - 47 Libra Road, Stratford le Bow St Mary, London (have not been able to find this family before on this Census but they are down as ANDREW but is it definitely the correct family)

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
