  1. 1841 Barracks Field, Northfleet, Kent
1849/1850 Leather Bottle Lane, Northfleet, Kent
1851 Census - Leather Bottle Lane, Northfleet, Kent
1861 Census - Prudention Cottage, Northfleet, Kent
1871 - Thomas and Elizabeth had a niece Ann aged 9, born Northfleet, staying with them on the night of the census. On the 1871 Census Elizabeth gave her place of birth as Aston, Kent.
In the Gravesend Kelly’s Directory for 1849/50, Thomas STEDMAN is given as Bricklayer, Leather Bottle Lane, Northfleet. This Thomas is the most likely.
  2. 1841 Barracks Field, Northfleet, Kent
1849/1850 Leather Bottle Lane, Northfleet, Kent
1851 Census - Leather Bottle Lane, Northfleet, Kent

1871 Old Dover Road, Northfleet, Kent. Thomas and Elizabeth had a niece Ann aged 9, born Northfleet, staying with them on the night of the census. On the 1871 Census Elizabeth gave her place of birth as Aston, Kent.

We believe her father was William and her mother Ann.
  3. 1841 Barracks Field, Northfleet, Kent
1851 Census - 27 John Street, Milton next Gravesend, Kent. Living in the same property was a Henry AUSTIN aged 28 a Journeyman Bricklayer, born Chatham, Kent his wife  Mary Ann AUSTIN aged 29 born Gravesend, Kent and their daughter Mary Ann AUSTIN also born Gravesend, Kent. I would think that Henry was a brother of Elizabeth AUSTIN on the chart above.

On the 24th January 2008 a Cynthia Caie contact me from New Zealand with information about Elizabeth STEDMAN born 1833 on the Chart above. This has gave me the person she married. From this I have found out a lot more information. A Chart will have to be added to show this. I did not pick this marriage up before as on the BMD the Elizabeth STEDMAN marriage in 1853 does not appear. Now I know she married George HANCOCK, he comes up correctly, but there are two men on the page and only one female and it is not Elizabeth.
    1854 Northfleet, Kent
    1855 Northfleet, Kent
    1857 Northfleet, Kent
1861 Census - Northfleet Hill, Northfleet, Kent.  There were four children on this Census, all born Northfleet, Kent, George 7, Alfred 5, William 4 and Thomas 8 months. (I am told by Cynthia that there was a Edward Aubrey HANCOCK born in 1862 so will have to find on the 1871 Census as well.

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
