    Actual birth date comes from the Ontario death records. This says the burial took place on the 8th October, but unless they buried him alive I believe this was really November as he did not die until the 26th October. The name of the Undertaker was William DOW. (if only we had records like this in England) Stephen was resident in Ontario for 22 years and employed in Ontario for 22 years. Apparently no cause of death is recorded if a Physician attended, the Physician in the case was a Dr J.A. McClintock.

Additional information Parents of Robert down as Stephen STEMP and Ann KNIGHT, Parent of Agnes were Edward VOUTT and Mary Ann BUMFREY. Address for witness Sarah E WILLIMOT was R.R.2 Uxbridge, Ontario, County of York and for Jas Stephen STEMP Uxbridge, Ontario, County of York. The faith of born Robert and Agnes is down as Anglican. The birth place for Agnes appears to be Briston, Norfolk, it was originally down as Bristol, Norfolk, but this has been crossed though and replaced with an n. The clergyman was a W Henry THOMAS whose address is down as 42 First Avenue, Toronto.

(We already had some details for this marriage Additional information not on the Chart above, Priscilla's parents James PULMAN and "unknown", James's Stephen STEMP and Ann KNIGHT./ Priscilla's address at marriage is down as Lornville, Ontario, James's is down as Uxbridge. James is down as being born in West Croydon, Surrey, England. Witnesses addresses are both down as Uxbridge, Ontario. Query on the date of marriage comes about as the marriage date is down as the 29th but the date also in the document for when they Sworn before the Clergyman was the 28th.
    It would appear from the 1911 census that the married couple had to make their Sworn statement to the Clergyman the day before they married as again there is one days difference between the marriage date and the date that they made their sworn statement; I have changed the details for James and Priscilla to make them married on the 29th.

    Marriage details for Charles and Helen appear in full on Ancestry.com's Web Site for Ontario Marriages 1857-1924. Helen's parents are down as Edwin GRIMM and Mary Ann HUGGINS, Charles as Stephen STEMP and Ann KNIGHT both witnesses are down as living in Uxbridge, Ontario.

    Again a lot of details for Richard have come from his death details. In Ontario, 24 years, at last residence 1 year. Apparently no cause of death is recorded if a Physician attended, the Physician in the case was a Dr O H Grey. The undertakers were Guire and Lowe.

    On the BMD in Croydon there is an Alfred George STEMP born as shown, on the Canadian 1911 Census it is George, but the other children were all born in Croydon up until this one, so I would think it is correct, but of course they could have moved just before they emigrated. The children following were born in Ontario, Canada.
    I had a query about George as that is how he appears on the 1911 Census, but on the BMD in Croydon he is down as Alfred George, and as a witness at the Wedding or Charles and Helen he is down as Alfred George.
  8. Canadian birth record details. So some extra children and some confirmed through the birth details. Eliza Emma definitely correct in 1905 as mothers name given, but this is the only place she appears. She does not appear under the deaths and not on the 1911 Census.
  9. I believe that this child belongs to this family as on the death certificate the father is given as Stephen and it is in Uxbridge, Ontario. No name was given although it says the child was 7 months old on death.
    Comment from Jean WHEATON
    The child before was born 10th December 1905, so five month to the birth of this child....and the child after was born 12 December 1906, so seven months after the birth of this child.... so I am not convinced that he/she belong here. 
    Regarding comment from my sister Jean WHEATON , the birth and death both appear to be in Uxbridge, Ontario and in both cases for birth and death the father is given as Stephen STEMP, however in both cases the name of the mother is not given, whereas for all the other births I have found the mother has been named correctly as  Ann. I cannot believe there was another Stephen STEMP in Uxbridge, Ontario at that time, so possibly this was a child where Stephen was the father but Ann was not the mother!

Frederick and Amy were both Baptist; Frederick parents were George Walton ASLING and Joanne MARCH. the birthplace of George was Reach Township, and for Stephen STEMP father of Amy as Croydon< England. Both the witnesses lived in Uxbridge, Ontario, Canada. The Clergyman was an Edgar B TAYLOR
    Note that on the 1911 Census is was Rachell but as a witness at Charles and Helen's marriage she is down as Amy Rachel
