  1. 1861 Rectory, Little Waltham, Essex. Mary was at the Rectory, Little Waltham, Essex with James where they were both Servants but at this time they were not married
1871 High Street, Wormley, Hertfordshire. Frederick THOROGOOD was visiting the family. James and Mary had a son Frederick born 1865 in Wormley, Hertfordshire.
  2. 1841 Census - Boreham, Essex. Unfortunately Mary was also a Servant at 15 on the 1841 Servant so cannot find her family.

1881 Census - Oakhams Farm, Great Baddow, Chelmsford, Essex, Mary a widow was a visitor with an Elijah SORRELL, aged 49, (I would think her brother) he was a farmer, born Boreham, Essex. His wife Mary Ann SORRELL, aged 49 born Great Baddow, Essex. They had a daughter Martha aged 27 born Springfield, Essex still with them
1891 White House Farm, Baddow Road, Chelmsford, Essex. Frederick THOROGOOD aged 26 Railway Clerk born Wormley, Hertfordshire, Emily aged 29 born Felstead, Essex and Mary THOROGOOD, mother a widow a Retired Publican born Boreham, Essex
I looked for Mary's parents on the 1861 Census. I noticed that James THOROGOOD was in Little Waltham for that Census, but there is a Joseph and Ann SORRELL, born Waltham, Essex as visitors at the Village, Wormley, Hertfordshire. staying with a licensed Victualler. I am fairly certain this is the correct couple, so why were they in Wormley when their future son-in-law was back where they were born. Then a short time later James and Mary married in Wormley.
Father - James SORRELL - Labourer
  3. 1871 High Street, Wormley, Hertfordshire. Frederick THOROGOOD was visiting the family. James and Mary had a son Frederick born 1865 in Wormley, Hertfordshire.

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
