On the 1911 census Florence is shown as being married 13 years and having had 6 children all still living. However, all this information has been crossed through.
    Information from James MOTT
Boarded out from 1878 until 1881. Whereabouts unknown since that date
    Comments from JKW 7/5/2014
Susan PEACEY wrote to me on the 2/5/2014 through Genes Reunited as follows:
" I am trying to find out what happened to Florence as I have found no records and presume she must have died in infancy. I am descended from her mother Anne (nee Cracknell) and her illegitimate daughter Lucy Cracknell".
I replied giving her the information I had received from James MOTT
"Boarded out from 1878 until 1881. Whereabouts unknown since that date".
Sue and I then exchanged several messages in the following days....and then....
    Information from Sue PEACEY 7/5/2014
Further to your information that Florence was boarded out, I then dug around and found Florence Wheaton CRACKNELL in the 1881 census living with James Coomes CRACKNELL and his wife Mary Kate (BUCKLAND). James was Anne’s cousin and as James and Mary Kate had no children of their own, perhaps they were happy ‘adopt’ Florence especially if James and Anne had been close. After that discovery I was able to follow Florence’s life:
So, Florence was found after all these years within 5 days!
    Message from Sue PEACEY 2/5/2014
"I was looking through some documents in my CRACKNELL file and came across some photos I found on the internet of Edmonton workhouse. There is one which has 'St Michaels' in the wall which might explain why that name was written in the margin of the register for Florrie's baptism."
    Comment from JKW
    Following the above I looked on line and included in the information for the Edmonton Workhouse were photos, one of which showed a very prominent "St Michael", and the following comment;
"After 1930, the institution came under the control of Middlesex County Council and up until 1948 was known as Enfield House. It then became part of the National Health Service under the name of St Michael's Hospital, specialising in geriatric care"

    Victory Medal
Given the information we have available it is likely that Cyril William WHEATON was entitled to the Victory medal, also called the Inter Allied Victory Medal. This medal was awarded to all who received the 1914 Star or 1914-15 Star and, with certain exceptions, to those who received the British War Medal. It was never awarded alone. These three medals were sometimes irreverently referred to as Pip, Squeak and Wilfred.
Eligibility for this award consisted of having been mobilised, fighting, having served in any of the theatres of operations, or at sea, between midnight 4th/5th August, 1914, and midnight, 11th/12th November, 1918. Women who served in any of the various military organisations in a theatre of operations were also eligible.
    British War Medal
From the information available to us, it is very possible that Cyril William WHEATON was entitled to the British War Medal for service in World War One. This British Empire campaign medal was issued for services between 5th August 1914 and 11th November 1918.
The medal was automatically awarded in the event of death on active service before the completion of this period.
    Silver War Badge
The Silver War Badge was issued in the United Kingdom to service personnel who had been honourably discharged due to wounds or sickness during World War I. The badge, sometimes known as the Discharge Badge, Wound Badge or Services Rendered Badge, was first issued in September 1916, along with an official certificate of entitlement.
The sterling silver lapel badge was intended to be worn in civilian clothes. It had been the practice of some women to present white feathers to apparently able-bodied young men who were not wearing the King's uniform. The badge was to be worn on the right breast while in civilian dress, it was forbidden to wear on a military uniform.
The badge bears the royal cipher of GRI (for Georgius Rex Imperator; George, King and Emperor) and around the rim "For King and Empire; Services Rendered". Each badge was uniquely numbered on the reverse. The War Office made it known that they would not replace Silver War Badges if they went missing, however if one was handed into a police station then it would be returned to the War Office. If the original recipient could be traced at his or her discharge address then the badge would be returned.

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
