    Information from Tanya HARRINGTON 7/1/2007
"Did I mention that it was suggested Elizabeth SOUTHWELL's son Robert, born 1835, might have been Robert WHEATON's son? Robert isn't a SOUTHWELL family name, and I suppose it's possible that the two had an affair. There wasn't much of a gap between the death of Rebecca and his marriage to Elizabeth.
In case he's a WHEATON (!), this son Robert was in Ely on the 1841 Census living with John (60) and Mary LANGMAN, his grandmother Phillis' relatives. In 1851 he was 16 and living with Elizabeth's brother Henry SOUTHWELL and family in Chatteris. I haven't found where Elizabeth was as yet.
Robert married Jemima ATKIN 7th Oct 1865 at Manea. He gave his father's name as Robert SOUTHWELL, to appear respectable, no doubt, but there wasn't a Robert SOUTHWELL, so was the Robert half of it correct? They had 5 children: Henry, James, Robert, Rachel and Eliza."
Father - Joseph SOUTHWELL - Husbandman

  5. 1841 High Street, Somersham, Huntingdonshire
    1843 Somersham, Huntingdonshire
1851 High Street, Somersham, Huntingdonshire. Living with Mary was Sarah WHITTLESEY (19) Unmarried, Dressmaker's Apprentice, born Colne, Huntingdonshire and Martha HOOK (16) Unmarried, House Servant, born Bluntisham, Huntingdonshire
1853 Emigration: 25 April 1853, London to New York on "GORKTOWN"
1860 Toledo, Lucas, Ohio, USA . William's wife is shown as Betsy. Was this a nickname, or had Mary died and William remarried? Remarriage would explain why the BLUFF children are not living with them. For the time being the census information for Betsy has been entered for Mary.
1870 Toledo War 7, Lucas, Ohio, USA as Betsie
1880 District 45 Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio, USA as Betsey

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
