    1835 East Stoke, Dorset
    1837 East Stoke, Dorset
    1841 Wareham, Dorset
1851 West Street, Wareham, Dorset. With John and his two children were the following lodgers, George STEMMER, aged 42 a Widower a Shoe and Boot Maker born in Europe, his children, Elizabeth 15 a Shoe Binder born Wareham, Dorset, Isabella 13 a Shoe Binder born Stoborough, Dorset, Charlotte 6 a Scholar born Wareham, Dorset, Freeboard? (son) aged4 a Scholar, born Wareham, Dorset, and Fanny 2 a Scholar, born Wareham, Dorset
There is a baptism on 5th March 1798 in East Stoke Dorset for a John DORY, who could be this John, his parents are down as George and Elizabeth. There are four children with these parent around that period.
  2. 1817 East Stoke, Dorset
    1819 East Stoke, Dorset
    1821 East Stoke, Dorset
    1823 East Stoke, Dorset
    1826 East Stoke, Dorset
    1828 East Stoke, Dorset
    1830 East Stoke, Dorset
    1832 East Stoke, Dorset
    1835 East Stoke, Dorset
    1837 East Stoke, Dorset
    1841 Wareham, Dorset
This baptism was found on the OPC web site. we did not have it before. It does fill a gap in the births of these children. I cannot find a death for Diana but there is a marriage as shown which would fit.
  3. 1817 East Stoke, Dorset
  4. 1819 East Stoke, Dorset
    1841 Wareham, Dorset
  5. 1821 East Stoke, Dorset
1841 Wareham Union Workhouse (possibly) This could be another George DOREY, the ages have been definitely rounded up and down, ie 20, 25 etc nothing in between, so this George is 25 which makes him born in 1825, I would have thought they would have had him down as 20.
  6. 1823 East Stoke, Dorset
1841 Census - Not found at present
1861 Hill Street, Poole St James, Poole, Dorset
1871 Wool, Dorset (with new wife Mary). Lodging with them was Henrietta SMITH (2) born Portsmouth, Hampshire
1881 Main Street, Wool, Dorset. Living with them was sister Jane WARREN (45) Laundress born Wareham, Dorset. A Lodger
was Hetty GIBSON (12) Scholar born Southampton, Hampshire. Living next door to Reuben and Annie COBB
1891 Cottage, Wool, Dorset. Shown as married but Mary A not living with him
  7. 1826 East Stoke, Dorset
1841 Census- Langton, Langton Matravers, Dorset. Ambrose was with a George SMITH and his family on this Census, George was a Smith, no occupation for Ambrose.
1861 Census - 18 Samuel Street, Limehouse, London.
1871 Census - 36 Samuel Street, Limehouse, London
1881 Census - 10 Oban Street, Bromley St Leonard, Bromley, Poplar, London. With Ambrose and Martha was Catherine DOREY aged 10 born Reading, Berkshire
  8. 1828 East Stoke, Dorset
1841 Census - Wareham, Dorset. A slight problem again with this child, (see the last one, William) as the child is 13 and Selina appears as such on the 1851 I think the child listed is this one, but it definitely does not say Selina, it looks like Syania or Lyania.
  9. 1830 East Stoke, Dorset
    1841 Census - Wareham, Dorset
  10. 1832 East Stoke, Dorset
    1841 Census - Wareham, Dorset
  11. 1835 East Stoke, Dorset
    1841 Census - Wareham, Dorset
  12. 1837 East Stoke, Dorset
1841 Census - Wareham, Dorset. There is a child who is 4 on the 1841 Census, it definitely looks like Talman as a christian name, not William, but as the age ties up with the baptism I have found I think it is more than likely it is the same person.

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
