    Will of Thomas Hewett
    This is the last Will and Testament of me Thomas Hewitt Grazier of the parish of St John Margate and being of sound mind memory and understanding do make in manner following First I devise that my just Debts funeral expenses and the expenses of proving of this my Will be paid as soon after my decease as can be conveniently by my Executors hereinafter named I then Give to my dear wife Ann Hewitt for and during the term of her natural life or widowhood the whole of what I may be possessed of to be enjoyed by her in the proceeds but not in the disposal and that on the demise or second marriage of her my said wife my Will is that the whole of my property whether freehold or personal be sold either publicly or privately and the proceeds be divided share and share alike by my Executors or Executor hereinafter named as follows Elizabeth wife of Daniel Whitehead Sarah wife of William Harlow Harriet wife of William Doughty Ann Wife of Thomas Miles my son William Hewitt my son John Hewitt and the Children of my late son Hammond Ewitt (these children taking share and share alike the one proportion that would have been their taken) And my Will is that this distribution be subject to fifteen pounds each to the children of my late Son Thomas Hewitt and my Executor William Young of the Six Bells Margate five pounds And I do by this my Will appoint my said wife Ann Hewitt Executrix and my friend William Young of the Six Bells my Executor to this my last Will and revoking all Wills by me made do this ninth day of January in the Year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and thirty five put my hand or mark and Seal including the alteration from five pounds to fifteen pounds as a Legacy to George and Eliza son and daughter of my late son Thomas Hewitt and which alteration was made previous to the attestation The X of Thomas Hewitt in the presence of us the Testator at his request and in the presence of us and of each other as Witnesses - William Adams, Joseph Mount - George Rogers, Witnesses
    I Thomas Ewitt do by this my Codicil revoke and alter the proportion of my property as bequeathed to any ??? such proportion to my son William Harlow in trust for daughter ??? the wife of Thomas Miles (words inserted here that are unreadable) do have no control whatever over such Legacy but that the disposal thereof shall be wholly under the direction of the William Harlow and employed by him for my said daughters benefit and at his sole discretion and that this codicil made this nineteenth day of July One thousand eight hundred and thirty six to form a part of my said Will and to which I do this said day put my seal and mark And I do by this my Codicil appoint my son in law William Harlow a joint Executor with William Young and Ann Hewitt my said wife The X of Thomas Hewitt Signed sealed published and declared by the Testator as part of his Will in the presence of us William Adams, Jesse Kentish, John Winch, Witnesses.
