  2. 1861 Census - 2 Dixons Court, Margate, Kent
  3. 1871 Census - 7 Dixons Court, St Johns, Margate, Kent. As well as the people above marked Note 3 on the 1871 Census there was also a Hammond HEWETT, Grandson, Aged 1 month, born Margate, Kent. I think this child is the son of Joseph HEWITT the oldest child of Hammond and Elizabeth, as I have found the family of Hammond and Elizabeth HEWITT, the second child and he has a son HAMMOND, see Note 4. Joseph was the only other child married on the 1871 Census. Will look on later Censuses to try and confirm. These were the only two children married on the 1871 Census. I have also added Robert, the last child,  from the 1871 for which we had no previous information.
  4. 1871 Census - 3 Orchard Cottages, Church Street, Margate, Kent. Hammond was 24 a Bricklayers Labourer, born Margate, Kent, his wife Ellen was 23 and also born in Margate, Kent. There children on this Census were Hammond W HEWETT, aged 2, born Margate, Kent and Robert I HEWETT, aged 6 months born Margate, Kent. I will add a new Chart for this family.
  5. 1881 Census - 2 Twymans Court, Margate, Kent. No issue on this Census.
  6. 1881 Census - 2 Twymans Court, Margate, Kent. Living with his sister and husband. Children Jno (as on Census) Age 2 born Deal, Kent, Hammond G, Age 7 months, born Margate, Kent.
  7. 1881 Census - 35 Milton Road, Margate St John Baptist, Kent I found a family on the 1871 Census, which turns out to be the same as this one, I was not happy with what I found as the wife was Jane not Elizabeth, also they had a son of a similar age to the HAMMOND on Note 3 which disproves my theory on Note 3. Perhaps it was a child of one of the daughters. The information first for the 1881 Census for Joseph. Joseph T HEWETT, aged 37 a Bricklayers Labourer, born Margate, Kent, Jane E HEWETT, wife, age 36 a Charwoman, born Ash, Kent. The children were Alice I HEWETT, aged 17, Domestic Servant, born Margate, Kent, Louisa I HEWETT, aged 12, born Margate, Kent, Joseph T HEWETT, aged 10, born Margate, Kent, Thomas I HEWETT, aged 8, born Margate, Kent, John HEWETT, aged 5, born Margate, Kent, Elizabeth M HEWETT, aged 3, born Margate, Kent, Emily M HEWETT, aged 7 months, born Margate, Kent
  8. 1871 Census - 2 Wood Cottages, Margate, Kent - Joseph HEWETT, aged 28, Labourer, born Margate, Kent, Jane HEWETT, aged 28, Alice I HEWETT, age 8, born Margate, Kent, Louisa A HEWETT, aged 3, born Margate, Kent, Joseph T HEWETT, son aged 8 months.
  9. 1891 Census - 8 ???? Place, Margate, Kent (near Church Square, Margate, Kent - the property two from where Sarah and George lived was in Church Square, but cannot read the actual ??? Place they were in. Sarah's father was with them, a widower, aged 72. (This could be Charlotte - as John who was living next door on the 1881 Census is living in Charlotte Place on the 1891 Census. 
  10. 1891 Census - 5a Charlotte Place, Margate, Kent. John was 34 a Bricklayer's Labourer, Ann Elizabeth was 31, a Charwoman, born Deal, Kent - The children wee John, 12, Scholar, Margate, Kent; George, 10, Scholar, Margate, Kent; Elizabeth, 8, Scholar, Margate, Kent; Nellie Jessie, 5, Scholar, Margate, Kent; Clara Annie, 4, Scholar, Margate, Kent; Sarah Louisa, 2, Margate, Kent
  11. 1891 Census - 4 Charlotte Cottages, Margate, Kent. Hammond was 46 a Bricklayers Labourer, born Margate, Kent, Ellen was 45 and born in Margate, Kent. There children on this Census were Hammond, aged 22 an Agricultural Labourer, born Margate, Kent, Robert, aged 20, a Bricklayers Labourer, born Margate, Kent, Emma, age 14 a General Servant Domestic, born Margate, Kent, Maria, age 10 a Scholar, born Margate, Kent and George, aged 8 a Scholar, born Margate, Kent.
  12. 1891 Census - 51 Milton Road, Margate, Kent. This is a large family list. Joseph was 47 a General Labourer, Jane was 46 born Margate, Kent. There children were on this Census: Thomas T aged 18 General Labourer, John, 15, General Labourer, born Margate, Kent, Elizabeth M, aged 14, Scholar, born Margate, Kent, Emily M, age 10 scholar, born Margate, Kent, Joseph T age 20 General Labourer, born Margate, Kent, William age 25 General Labourer, born Margate, Kent and Emily HEWETT, Granddaughter, aged 7 born Margate, Kent. I know the children are not in age order, but that is how they appear on the Census.
  13. 1901 Census - 39 Victoria Road, Margate, Kent. William is down as 50, a General Labourer, born Margate, Kent. His wife Mary A is 51, born Margate, Kent. There children on this census were: Archibald, F. A. age 10 born Margate, Kent and Joseph F. age 8, born Margate, Kent. Will add a new chart for this family.
  14. 1881 Census - 2 Belgrave Square, Margate, Kent. Living with them was a Hammond Hewett, Grandson, age 10
  15. 1891 Census - 4 Milton Cottages, Arnold Road, Margate, Kent. Robert was married, aged 27 a General Labourer, born Margate, Kent, his wife Eliza was 25 and also born in Margate, Kent. Living with them was Robert's Mother-in-Law which gives us the surname of Eliza. She was Eliza SIMPSON, aged 50, born Ramsgate, Kent, also with them was a niece Elizabeth SIMPSON, aged 4, born Ramsgate, Kent
  16. 1901 Census - Yew Tree House, Tivoli Road, Margate, Kent - I had a job finding Robert on this Census. He is indexed as Rb D HEWETT, but found under his wife's name. It is the correct family as Eliza's mother-in-law is still with them. Robert (shown as Rob on the actual Census is 36 born Margate, Kent, his wife Eliza is 34, born Margate, Kent. They have a son, Cyril B HEWETT who is 10 months, born Margate, Kent. Will add a new chart for Cyril. Then there is Eliza SIMPSON, mother-in-law, aged 74 born Ramsgate, Kent (she appears to have gained an additional 14 years from the 1891 Census. She was down as married on the 1891 Census, but is down as a Widow on the 190, she was born in Ramsgate, Kent. There is also a William? or Ned? SIMPSON, brother-in-law, aged 34, a General Labourer, born Ramsgate, Kent and a Boarder a Richard? (the enumerator keeps shortening the Christian names and it is a job to decipher)  HENNEY age 25 Head Toteman, born Ashford, Kent.
  17. 1901 Census - 5 Ackhursts Cottages, Victoria Road Shops, Margate, Kent
  18. 1881 Census - 72 King St., Margate St John Baptist, Kent - I have started with the 1881 Census, as I was not happy with my findings on the 1871, but now having found the family on the 1881 I will go back to the 1871. I found a marriage on the BMD for a Maria Elizabeth HEWETT in 1868 which seemed the likely one as she does not appear on the 1871 Census as Maria HEWETT. Then on the 1881 Census she is down as Maria HARNETT with her husband George HARNETT and family which I will list. With them is a William HEWETT, a boarder, down as being born in 1854 but it is possibly that it is her Maria's brother who we have down as being  born in 1851. I have found a slight variance in all the ages on the various Censuses for this family. I will make a new Chart for this family. The family were George HARNETT, age 32, General Labourer, born Margate, Kent, Maria HARNETT, aged 31, Labourer's wife, born Margate, Kent, William HARNETT, son, age 12, Scholar, born Margate, Kent, Jane Elizabeth HARNETT, daughter, age 10, Scholar, born Margate, Kent, Emma HARNETT, daughter, age 6, Scholar, born Margate, Kent, George G HARNET, son, age 3, Scholar, born Margate, Kent, Louisa HARNETT, age 6 months, born Margate, Kent, William HEWETT, boarder, age 27, Bricklayers Labourer, born Margate, Kent.
  19. 1891 Census - 1 Anchor Hills, Margate, Kent - George HARNETT was 43 a Coal Carter, born Margate, Kent, Maria was 42,born Margate, Kent, Jane E HARNETT was 18, born Margate, Kent, George W HARNETT, was 14 born Margate, Kent, Louisa HARNETT was 12 a Scholar, born Margate, Kent. With them and really confirming I have the right family was a Hammond HEWETT, aged 20 a Nephew, a General Labourer, born Margate, Kent. (There appears to be a George Harnett and a Mercy Harnett on the 1871 and 1901 Census that could be this couple, on the 1881 and 1891 she is definitely down as Maria, not Mercy, so I am not certain they are the correct couple.) They had two children on the 1871 Census, one of which ties up with the William HARNETT on the 1881 Census, but there was also a George which does not tie up as they had a George in 1878. On the 1901 there was just George and Mercy. I cannot find a George and Maria on these two Censuses) When I put a chart on for the HARNETT's there are children of their children to put charts on for.

    This is a new Chart which was added on 9th September 2005. We did have some information which was originally given to us by a Queenie JOHNSON, I have added a lot more, but I am certain we can find out even more. I will look more carefully when I put on the various new Charts that are needed. I have not found any mention of Emma Jane HEWETT over the day, all other families have been covered.

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
