  1. 1851 Census - Terrington St Clements, Norfolk - There is a Sarah SEEKINGS Servant born 1833 with them on this Census.
  2. 1881 Census - 4 Freemantle Cottages, Portsea, Hampshire - There was a Joseph on the information given to us, and as there are so few SEEKINGS born in Terrington, Norfolk I believe that the Joseph I have found in Portsea, Hampshire on the 1881 must be this Joseph even though his birth year is two years out from what we had, the fact that his wife was also born in Terrington, I think adds weight to my assumption. The children were all born in Portsea. Details for Joseph and Elizabeth as above, children as follows: Leah, daughter, age 17 born Portsea (all children born Portsea), John 13 Scholar, Angelina 10 Scholar, Edith 8, Scholar, Hannah 5 Scholar, and Ruth 8 months, There is a John DOUGHTY a Boarder a Labourer and his wife Jemima both aged 73 with the family. As they are both born in Worple, Norfolk I wonder if there is a connection, possibly parents of Elizabeth. Will add a new chart at some time.
  3. 1861 Census - Living in Upper Robert Street, Plumstead, Kent, London. Joseph is down as being born in Terrington, Norfolk, but Ancestry.com shows index show it as Torrington.
  4. 1871 Census - 31 Stamshaw? Road, Portsea, Hampshire. - Ancestry.com managed birth place as Farrington, Norfolk on this Census.  It comes up as Joseph SEEKINGS which but if you search for Joseph SEEKINGS born Norfolk nothing comes up. Found by putting in Joseph, living in Portsea and going through them all, but it is spelt correctly, just the town wrong. So it should have shown. My thoughts about Elizabeth's maiden name are borne out on this census as John DOUGHTY and Jemima DOUGHTY are down as Father-in-Law and Mother-in-Law. John DOUGHTY is also a Dockyard Labourer and they are both down as being born on this Census in Terrington, Norfolk (Worple Norfolk on 1881 Census).
  5. 1891 Census - 12 Basin Street, Portsea, Hampshire. Details for Joseph and Elizabeth as above. Doing a search on SEEKINGS in Portsea I note that some of the children are now married and living in the area, so more sorting out to do when the Chart for Joseph is put on. John and Jemima DOUGHTY, father and mother-in-law are still with them both age 83 receiving parish support, both born Terrington, Norfolk.
  6. 1901 Census - 12 Basin street, Portsea, Hampshire. Joseph has died and Elizabeth is the Head, her parents are no longer with the family. Details for Elizabeth on Chart. There is also a Benjamin SEEKINGS, grandson, age 10 also born Portsea, with the family. Will go further with this family when I put the Chart on. Benjamin, I think appears as Bertram on Note 7 below as a nephew. I therefore still do not know to which child he belongs.
  7. 1891 Census - Black House, Portsea, Hampshire. Two children, Harry J BUDD aged 4 and Ethel M BUDD aged 3 both born Portsmouth, Hampshire. Also with the family was John Thomas SEEKINGS, brother in law and Bertram J SEEKINGS, nephew, aged 1 month both down as being born in Portsmouth, Hampshire.
  8. 1891 Census - 2 Paradise Place, Portsea, Hampshire. Two children, Grace E M aged 10 a Scholar and Violet M aged 1 month both down as being born in Portsmouth, Hampshire
  9. 1901 Census - 6 Winstanley Road, Portsmouth, Hampshire. Three children, all born Portsmouth, Hampshire, Ellen aged 7, Henry T aged 4 and Ethel aged 8 months.
  10. 1901 Census - 23 Basin Street, Portsmouth, Hampshire. Four children, all born Portsmouth, Hampshire, Reginald 8, Dorothy 6, Harold 3 and Joseph 8 months.
  11. 1901 Census - Black House, Greyham Road, Southsea, Portsmouth, Hampshire. Four children on the Census, Harry J is 14 and down as a Schoolteacher, Ethel is 13, and then there is Frank 9 and Nellie 6, all born Portsmouth, Hampshire
  12. 1901 Census - 4 Copnor Cottage, Portsmouth, Hampshire
  13. 1881 Census - 28 Nile Street, Portsea, Portsmouth, Hampshire

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
