  1. Address 1815 - Elm, Isle of Ely, Cambridgeshire
  2. 1841 Census - Terrington St Clements, Norfolk
  3. 1851 Census - Terrington St Clements, Norfolk - There is a Sarah SEEKINGS Servant born 1833 with them on this Census.
  4. Lived with her daughter Sarah and her husband until her death
  5. 1861 Census - Perkin Field, Terrington, St Clements, Norfolk, Jane SEEKINGS, Mother in Law, aged 68 born Terrington St Clements, Norfolk is with them on the Census as per Note 4.
  6. 1871 Census - Southcrofts Fields, Terrington, St Clements, Norfolk
  7. 1871 Census - Norman Bank, Terrington, St Clements, Norfolk. Details for Benjamin and Elizabeth above there two children on this Census were; William HUBBARD, Aged 15, Agricultural Labourer, born Terrington, St. Clements and Ann E HUBBARD, Aged 11 a Scholar, born Terrington, St Clements, Norfolk
  8. Sarah's Baptism is the only one to appear on the IGI so giving us a day for her baptism.
  9. 1881 Census - 4 Freemantle Cottages, Portsea, Hampshire - There was a Joseph on the information given to us, and as there are so few SEEKINGS born in Terrington, Norfolk I believe that the Joseph I have found in Portsea, Hamsphire on the 1881 must be this Joseph even though his birth year is two years out from what we had, the fact that his wife was also born in Terrington, I think adds weight to my assumption. The children were all born in Portsea. Details for Joseph and Elizabeth as above, children as follows: Leah, daughter, age 17 born Portsea (all children born Portsea), John 13 Scholar, Angelina 10 Scholar, Edith 8, Scholar, Hannah 5 Scholar, and Ruth 8 months, There is a John DOUGHTY a Boarder a Labourer and his wife Jemima both aged 73 with the family. As they are both born in Worple, Norfolk I wonder if there is a connection, possibly parents of Elizabeth. Will add a new chart at some time.
  10. 1881 Census - West Field, Terrington St Clement, Norfolk - They had no children of their own on this Census, but there was a Grandchild, a Harriet E NEWALL age 16 a Dressmaker born Terrington St. Clement.
  11. 1851 Census - Sarah is a House Servant to a Farmer (Robert Termshaw?) in Terrington, St. Clement.
  12. 1861 Census - Southcroft Field, Terrington, St. Clement, Norfolk. No children confirms what I found on 1881 Census.
  13. 1861 Census - Terrington, St. Clements, Norfolk. Details as above and two children William, age 5 Scholar and Anne age 2 both born Terrington, ties up with Note 7 for the 1871 Census above.
  14. 1861 Census - Living in Upper Robert Street, Plumstead, Kent, London. Joseph is down as being born in Terrington, Norfolk, but Ancestry.com shows index as Torrington. Details for Joseph and Elizabeth as shown above.
  15. 1871 Census - 31 Stamshaw? Road, Portsea, Hampshire. - Ancestry.com managed birth place as Farrington, Norfolk on this Census.  It comes up as Joseph SEEKINGS which but if you search for Joseph SEEKINGS born Norfolk nothing comes up. Found by putting in Joseph, living in Portsea and going through them all, but it is spelt correctly, just the town wrong. So it should have shown. My thoughts about Elizabeth's maiden name are borne out on this census as John DOUGHTY and Jemima DOUGHTY are down as Father-in-Law and Mother-in-Law. John DOUGHTY is also a Dockyard Labourer and they are both down as being born on this Census in Terrington, Norfolk (Worple Norfolk on 1881 Census).
  16. 1891 Census - 12 Basin Street, Portsea, Hampshire.  John and Jemima DOUGHTY, father and mother-in-law are still with them both age 83 receiving parish support, both born Terrington, Norfolk.
  17. 1901 Census - 12 Basin street, Portsea, Hampshire.
  18. The IGI shows this marriage as being on the 8th March not the 1st as we have it.
  19. 1871 Census - Perkin Field, Terrington, St Clements, Norfolk. The name is spelt DURBY on the Census return and Sarah is a widow, but as it is the same address as 1861 I am certain it is the correct family.
  20. 1891 Census - Westfield, Terrington, St Clements, Norfolk,

I am going to leave this Chart for the present time. I am sure with some more research a lot more information can be found about this family. It takes time trying to find each family on each Census, especially as they are very rarely found with the correct names on the indexing.

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
