    SIMMONS George Webb 11 November 1872. The Will of George Webb Simmons late of Church House King Edward's-road South Hackney in the County of Middlesex who died on or since 30 March 1871 at Sea was proved at the Principal Registry by Frederick Brown of Manor cottage Manor-road South Hackney draper the sole Executor.
    Mary SIMMONS on her email of 17th March 2011 writes about Louisa SADLER as follows:
    Louisa Simmons nee Sadler wife of G Webb Simmons lived until about 1918 in London. She was related to the Cowell family one of whom was the 1st professor of Sanscrit at Cambridge! but I am not sure of the exact link. I have a miniature of a Thomas Sadler who could have been her father and there is a note to say that Thomas Sadler was vicar at Ramsgate church but I have not been able to verify this. It does not tally with the census info. George Webb Simmons and his descendents tended to be strong non conformists his son George Herbert and grandson George William were very involved with a mission called Dove Row mission in London. George William Simmons was a Congregationalist lay preacher

    1891 Census - 20 Wellington Crescent, Ramsgate, Kent. With Joseph and Harriet were their daughter Charlotte and her husband, a servant and five lodgers.
    Found this marriage on the BMD. There were two Harriet's listed in this quarter and when it first came up I thought we had found another connection as the other Harriet was a Harriet Langridge DANTON who already appears in out family, but I already have her marriage and details and she married a Stephen PAIN, this leaves this marriage to the other Harriet, a Harriet Collins
    1894 National Probate - SIMMONS Joseph Price of 9 Belleue-road Ramsgate blacksmith died 18 March 1894 Probate 20 April to Harriett Simmons widow Effect £137 6s.

    On 31st January 2011 I received the following information from a Mary SIMMONS:
    I wanted to add a bit of information on his brother James Gisby Simmons. I think that he was transported to Van Diemens land 30/2/51. I think that he was involved in tin mining in Victoria possibly marrying the owners daughter and later became a farmer. I think that he died 15/10/1918 having had children. He lived in Gelliondale and had at least 2 sons one of whom was called George Web Simmons. I think he was buried at Foster cemetery in Victoria. I cannot remember where I found the info on his father Joseph but I think that he may have gone out to Australia after the death of his wife Elizabeth (nee Gisby) and died there.

    1881 28 Hickling Street, Rotherhithe, London. With Thomas and Emma is Mary GARDNER Mother in Law a Widow aged 78 born Walmer, Kent, Emma is down as being 41 on this Census so born 1840.
    Information for Emma GARDNER
    1871 71 Greensford Street, St John, London. Thomas was not with his wife. she is down as Mariners wife born Walmer Kent with her a a Mary A GARDNER mother a widow born Deal, Kent.  Also with the is a Joseph SIMMONS a Nephew aged 16 born Ramsgate, Kent (Emma is down as being 24 on this Census, so born 1847)
  10. 1851 Census - Hereson, Ramsgate, Kent. There was a Lodger on this Census, a Henry FLEETWOOD, a French Polisher, born St Pancras, London.
    1861 Herson, St Lawrence, Ramsgate, Kent.  At the same property was a John SIMMONS aged 29?/39? a Mariner and his wife Jane? aged 39 both born St Lawrence, Kent. We had Esther down as dying before 1861 but having found her with her brother and a marriage for an Esther Tiltman SIMMONS I am certain that she did not die. Information was given to me for this family but I am finding several errors. I was told that James Gisby had also died but found he was transported to Australia. See note 8. I am therefore going through and checking all details now so much more is available online.
