  1. IGI Baptism. I then went from this and looked for a baptism of a child for John and Charlotte. I put in the parents name and the most likely names given, ie John and Charlotte, None for Charlotte but there was a John TICKNER baptised, 30th January 1814, Shere Surrey to a John and Charlotte TICKNER. This gives me another family. So from this I looked for TICKNERs using the batch number, I had already looked at most of them, but there is a James TICKNER with a John and Charlotte as parents baptised on 6th October 1816 in Shere, Surrey, so I think this is another son. No other children match.
  2. 1861 Census - Scotland, Albury, Surrey. Children on this Census: - Hannah TICKNER, aged 11 born Shere, Surrey, James TICKNER, aged 9 born Shere, Surrey, Jane TICKNER, aged 7 born Albury, Surrey, Thomas TICKNER, aged 4 born Albury, Surrey and Dorcas TICKNER, aged 1 born Albury, Surrey.
  3. 1851 Census - Shere, Surrey. Children Eliza 13 born Shere, Surrey, a Scholar, Matilda 7 a Scholar, born Shere, Surrey, Ann daughter, aged 4 born Shere, Surrey and Hannah 1 born Shere, Surrey.
  4. 1841 Census - Little Cattles, Shere, Surrey. Children Charlotte, aged 5 and Eliza aged 3 both born in Surrey. Hannah is down as being born in Surrey on this Census, but she was born in Middlesex
  5. 1871 Census - Burying Place, Shere, Surrey. There is a Thomas TICKNER who did not appear on the 1861 Census and he is 14, I will look on the BMD to see what I can find but his makes him born in 1857 where I have Ann from the 1861 Census, I have put 1856 for the moment. Also with the family was an Arthur TICKNER, nephew, aged 13 a Scholar born Albury, Surrey and a Alice TICKNER, niece,  aged 7 a Scholar born Albury, Surrey.
  6. 1881 Census - Smoky Hole, Shere, Surrey/ With Hannah and Dorcas was Dora TICKNER, aged 4 months born Shere Surrey a Granddaughter and a (down as) Bullen Elizabeth (so could be Elizabeth BULLEN) Granddaughter aged 10 born Leatherhead, Surrey, she was a Scholar.
  7. 1891 Census - Abinger Hammer, Surrey. The children as listed on the Census - Note this is exactly as they are down, so I do not really know if their are twins or not - Nora 8 daughter, Scholar, born Shere, Surrey, Bertha, daughter,  5 or 6 both ages down but a line through both, a Scholar, born Shere, Surrey, Bella daughter, 5 a Scholar born Shere, Surrey, Nina, daughter, 3 born Shere, Surrey, Thomas W, son, aged 3 months born Abinger, Surrey and then Annie daughter aged 6 a Scholar born Shere, Surrey. So it could even be triplets. Bertha, Bella and Annie. Again needs to be looked at on the BMD to see if I can throw any light on the when they were actually born.
  8. 1901 Census - Smoky Hole, Shere, Surrey. Hannah TICKNER was the Head, she was a widow born Hounslow, Middlesex, so it confirms that this is the correct family. Then we have a Reginald SHERLOCK, a Grandson-in-Law, aged 26 a Bricklayer born Shere, Surrey, then Nora SHERLOCK, Granddaughter aged 18 born Shere, Surrey, then Reginald SHERLOCK a Great Grandson, aged 2 born Shere, Surrey, then a Dora TICKNER a Granddaughter, aged 20 a Laundry maid, aged 20 born Shere, Surrey and then Bella JONES (see Note 7) a Granddaughter aged 15 born Shere, Surrey. So two children of Dorcas and Stephen are with their Grandmother, and I have to find the parents of Dora. No Dorcas comes up on the 1901 Census. (now found spelt, Dorkas)
  9. 1901 Census - Abinger Hammer, Surrey. We already have accounted for two children on the 1901 Census for this family. The list for the those with their parents are: Anne, 16 born Shere, Surrey, Nina Ela, aged 13 born Shere, Surrey, Thomas W aged 10 born Abinger, Surrey, Ronald 4 born Shere, Surrey and Stephen 1 born Shere, Surrey. They also had a Boarder, a Robert FIFIELD? aged 34 a Cress Cutter, born Littlebou??, Hampshire.
  10. 1891 Census - Smokey Hole, Shere, Surrey. With Hannah was Dora TICKNER, granddaughter, a Scholar, aged 10 born Shere, Surrey
  11. 1871 Census - Prince of Wales Inn, Shere, Surrey. Two children, John 8 a Scholar born Guildford, Surrey and Kate 1 born Guildford, Surrey.
  12. I have just noticed a marriage of an Eliza Furlonger TICKNER in the December quarter of 1856 in Guildford district. I think she must belong with this family. No further research done as yet, she married either a Alfred DALE, a Robert HEATHER or a Charles WAKEFORD (I now believe she was the child of John and Hannah TICKNER, she was registered in March quarter of 1838 in Guildford district, Surrey, which ties up with the Eliza on TICKNER on this Chart (Now found she married Charles WAKEFORD)
  13. 1861 Census - Broadmoor, Wotton, Surrey. Children: - Walter William WAKEFORD, aged 4 a Scholar, born Wotton, Surrey, Charles John WAKEFORD, aged 2 born Wotton, Surrey and James WAKEFORD aged 1 born Wotton, Surrey. Charles's mother Elizabeth WAKEFORD, aged 61 a widow born Wotton, Surrey was with the family.
  14. 1871 Census - Pond? Farm, Shere, Surrey. Jane was a servant to an Edward Charman age 50 a Farmer of 151 acres employing 3 men and 3 boys, and his wife
  15. 1891 Census - Victoria Road, Dorking Surrey
  16. 1901 Census - Victoria Road, Dorking Surrey
  17. 1881 Census - Prince Albert Row, Dorking, Surrey
  18. 1861 Census - Albury Farm, Albury, Surrey. Matilda was a servant to a John EVERSHED a Farmer and his family
  19. 1871 Census - Dorking Road, Westcott, Dorking, Surrey
  20. 1881 Census - Broomfield, Dorking, Surrey
  21. 1891 Census - Westcott Road, Dorking, Surrey

Again I expect I can add a lot more to this Chart but I am going to leave at the present time to get on with other TICKNER Charts.

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
