The people above him are all very definitely "S"; the symbol for Richard is different but could be an "S" in a different hand. However, given the fact that Richard was not at home with his wife, was 40 and born in Coombe Keynes, Dorset I think this is the right man. Richard’s father died on the 20th March 1889. We looked for the place of birth on ancestry.com and FreeBMD in 1875 with no success. There was a Jane COBB born September quarter 1873 in the Wareham District, Dorset who died there in the same quarter age 0. If it had been the June quarter we would have thought that perhaps we had entered the wrong year, but a death on 17th May, and registered at the earliest on the 1st July does seem too long a time lapse.
