At the Salem Baptist Church, St Peter's on Saturday, Mr. Herbert Frank Goatham, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Goatham of the Bungalow, Northdown-road, St Peter's was married to Miss Florence Harriett Roberts, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Roberts, of Providence House, Granville-road, Broadstairs.
Bride and bridegroom had for many years been members of the church, were children together at the Sunday School, and a large number of friends attended the wedding service, which was conducted by the Rev. J. T. Castle.
The bride, who was dressed in a cream costume, was accompanied as bridesmaid by her sister, Miss Annie Roberts. Mr. Stanley Goatham acted as best man.
The newly married couple afterwards left for Folkstone.
They were the recipients of a large number of presents.
Information received for David BURRIN on 12th January 2007 regarding the marriage of William Frank GOATHAM and Hagar KNIGHT. The age of William is shown as 23 which is lot younger than he appears on the 1891 and 1901 Census. This is possibly why I have not been able to find this side of the family on any Census before his marriage. David says they were married in Emmanuel Church, but does not say where, I have assumed Margate, Kent. It was definitely in Thanet, Kent as that is where the BMD records it. The witness John KNIGHT signed with a Mark. The father of William GOATHAM was Charles GOATHAM.

On 9th January 2007 I was told by a David BURRIN in email from this Web Site that the person I had down as Agar KNIGHT was indeed Hagar and that she married a Henry ROBERTS. He also sent me a copy of a letter from Hagar from her school to her parents in Sparrow Castle, Margate, Kent. I will put a transcript of this in Note 9.

My Dear Parent, I am writing this to tell that our Christmas holidays will commence next week; we have two weeks vactation. David BURRIN also gives information for Victor that he was a Church Organist. Although I have three thousand chart on my site I do not have a heading for this situation. I have put it down as occupation but I would think this was not his main occupation but something he did on Sundays, hobbies does not sound correct for doing this.

David BURRIN tells me that Stanley GOATHAM died in the first world war, from that I have found the details about him on the Commonwealth Graves Commission Site as shown above. The following information is also on the CGCS site: Son of Frank and Agar Goatham, of St. Peters, Broadstairs, Kent; husband of F. Goatham (now Harper) of 7, Dymchurch Rd. Hythe, Kent. From this it would appear that Stanley was married, and that his wife remarried

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
