  1. Father - George LUPTON born 1800, died 1877 and Mother - Mary Ann POUND born 1793 died 1881. I am told that the father of George LUPTON was a John LUPTON and mother was an Elizabeth. He married Joanna DOIDGE in Tavistock, England, in 1798, profession of shipwright. Again I am told he might have died in battle in 1808.
  2. 1870 US Census - Cleveland Ward 6, Cuyahoga, Ohio
  3. 1900 US Census - Piney, Texas, Missouri
  4. 1880 US Census - INDEX SHOWS THEM AS LEPTON ON THIS CENSUS - Warwick, Cecil, Maryland. I am certain that this is the right family on the 1880 Census, but the occupations have changed drastically, they also show Lance as a daughter and Florence as a son.
  5. 1851 UK Census - 32 George Street, Somers Town, St Pancras, Middlesex. From the information given to me in Note 1 I am certain that this is the family on the 1851 Census - I have therefore made up this chart to show the parents and family of Thomas LUPTON. Of course he was not on the 1851 Census as he has married and emigrated to the USA. I have looked on the 1841 Census for the family but at present have not found them. I am hopeful with the information that I am adding from the 1851 Census it will help me to find the correct family on the 1841 and hopefully this will have Thomas still with them. There were two visitors with them a Chas LOVING? aged 32 born Blackfriars, a Draper and Elizabeth LOVING, aged 30 born St GilesSomers Town, Middlesex
  6. 1841 Census - Drummond Street, Somers Town, St Pancras, Middlesex. With the names from the 1851 Census it enabled me to find the family on the Census. They are down as LAPTON. Thomas is with the family on this Census.
  7. 1861 Census - 5a Lupton Cottages, Grosvenor Street, Walworth, London. There was a visitor, a Bertha H LUPTON, aged 1 born St Pancras, Middlesex and a Lodger a James ROWE aged 45 a Varnish Manufacturer born Cornwall. (We have now found that Bertha H (E) LUPTON was in fact a Granddaughter and a child of William Henry LUPTON and Elizabeth, Emily GREARSON
  8. 1871 Census - 32 George Street, Somers Town, St Pancras, Middlesex. George was head of household with his wife Mary but his son George and family were with him. There was a visitor, a Caroline? LUPTON aged 30 a widow born St Pancras, London.
  9. 1871 Census - 118 Stanhope Street, Regent, St Pancras, London
  10. 1861 Census - 58 Upper Marylebone, Middlesex
  11. 1861 Census - 32 George Street, Somers Town, St Pancras, Middlesex.
  12. 1861 Census - 127 Drummond Street, St Pancras, Middlesex. Wallis (Wallace) was a Lodger with a Kemp family, difficult to see what his occupation is.
  13. 1871 Census - 24 Stanhope Street, Regent, Pancras, London, Wallis (Wallace) was a Lodger with an Osmond family
  14. 1881 Census - 34 George Street, St Pancras, Middlesex
  15. 1891 Census - 39 Arlington Road, Regent, St Pancras, Middlesex
  16. 1901 Census - 87 Westbourne Park Villas, Paddington, London
  17. 1861 Census - 121 ??? Street, Regent, St Pancras, Middlesex. (no name of road on the page of census). Richard was a lodger with a James TIFFIN and family. I believe the wife of James, although down as Elizabeth which was her second name was his sister.
  18. 1881 Census - 18 Gairford Street, Kentish Town, St Pancras, Middlesex. Mary's mother Mary was with Mary and her daughter so proving my thoughts in Note 17
  19. 1901 Census - 90 Fortess Road, St Pancras, Middlesex.
  20. 1871 Census - 28 Barker Road?, Kentish Town, St Pancras, Middlesex. There was a niece with them a Bertha LUPTON, who we have now found to be the child of William Henry LUPTON and his wife Elizabeth Emily GREARSON
  21. IGI Baptism, Birth and Parent information which ties up with Note 1
  22. IGI Baptism. Parents given as George and Ann POUND.
  23. 1881 Census - 32 George Street, Somers Town, St Pancras, Middlesex.
  24. 1891 Census - 32 George Street, Somers Town, St Pancras, Middlesex.
  25. 1901 Census - 32 George Street, Somers Town, St Pancras, Middlesex.
  26. IGI Birth date and Baptism. In my search for more details for Hannah, see below I went to the IGI where I found her birth and baptism dates. I was after a marriage but without success.
  27. IGI Baptism date. The birth date is also there and shows as 16th April 1826 we have the 15th. I have left as we had it.
  28. IGI Baptism and birth date. I though having found the information on the IGI for Hannah and Thomas with the next child born in St Pancras that I would try Rhoda and see what I got. The details are above.
  29. IGI Baptism and birth date. Having found Rhoda and then looked at the batch number on the IGI and this gave me Mary Elizabeth.
  30. IGI Baptism and birth date. Jane is a new entry, we have not had her before and she does not appear on the 1841, so assume she died before then.
  31. IGI Baptism and birth date. Note that it appears that Wallis was four years old when he was baptised
  32. IGI Baptism and birth date. William was baptised on the same day as Wallis and was 2 years old.
  33. IGI Baptism and birth date. Richard was baptised on the same day as Wallis  and William. (so we now have a triple baptism for the last three children.
  34. IGI Baptism and birth date. This completes all of the baptisms for all of the children above. Jane did not appear before but looking at the dates now I think we have covered all the children, there was a gap around 1832 where we would expect another child, which with Jane we now have.
  35. On 1st December 2007 a Charles RIGNALL sent me some feedback as follows: I am a descendant of George Lupton, born in Tavistock in 1801. His father, referred to by Aunt Tercie as George, appears in the records at Stoke Damerel to be John Lupton. It is fascinating that Joanna Doidge's mother was a Trelavon - George of Tavistock went on to marry MaryAnn Pound, as you have recorded, who was a descendant of the Treleaven family of Lanlivery, Cornwall.
I am extremely interested in all references to George/John Lupton who married Joanna Doidge. Extremely.
I do have other information which you could add to your charts, specifically about the family of Elizabeth Emily Grearson, and William Henry Lupton's subsequent removal to New York. Bertha Lupton, who was visiting Lupton Cottages in 1861, for instance, appears to be a child of William Henry Lupton who for some reason was not living with him and Elizabeth Emily. When William left for New York, Bertha stayed with Elizabeth; they lived in Clarence Gardens.
  36. On the Note of the Gedcom file received from Charles RIGNALL  is the following information
    George Lupton and Son, Painter
32 George Street, Euston Square, NW
Entry in Brook Street Chapel (Nonconformist) Tavistock, Devon "George son of John and Joanna Lupton born June 14, was baptized June 20 1801." Note - Pottage says 1800.
Employed 6 men in 1871, later up to 12 men, as a decorator and painter
1881 census shows 32 Little George street occupied by George Edwin Lupton, by his wife Jane, and children. There is also a Margaret Hopkins, who is listed as mother in law, age 80
George and Mary Ann both in Highgate Cemetery.
Grave 1671 in consecrated ground in square number 5 on the West (old)side of the cemetery.
    Also:
Hannah Lupton, buried 12/1/1845 age 21
Rhoda Lupton, b. 12/21/1866, no age given
Richard Lupton, b. 4/26/1870, no age given
    George Lupton, b 9/3/1877, aged 76 years
James Benjamin Tiffin, buried 12/24/1879, no age given
Mary Ann Lupton, buried 5/31/1884, aged 83 years
Elizabeth Angier, buried 12/1/1888 aged 83 years
Agnes Blanch Tiffin, b 10/2/1907 aged 53 years
Mary Elizabeth Tiffin b 1/25/1909, aged 80 years

I have covered everyone on the above chart except for Hannah LUPTON born around 1824. I cannot find her after the 1841 Census. She does not seem to appear on a later census, nor on the BMD for marriages or deaths with anything that could be her.

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
