1830 Bacchus Walk, Hackney, Shoreditch, London. Father is down as George Barter, a Clerk and mother as Jane Marfield (I think having looked at all the baptisms for children of this family I think she was Jane Maxwell, and I am told her name was Jane Maxwell EWINGS 1841 I had a possible family for Alexander on the 1841 but having found the same family on the 1851 Census I have decided that it cannot be correct, as Alexander is still at home and as he married in January 1851 he shouldn't have been, plus the father George is down as a Labourer, whereas at Alexander's marriage in the same year his father was down as a Mercantile Clerk. I therefore at the present time cannot get any further back on this family. (Have now found baptism in 1830 for Alexander, so can again put a chart on for his father George Barter and mother Jane Marfield and Alexander as their child. Then looking at baptisms with George Barter THOMPSON their are eight more children with George Barter as father and Jane as mother, the Marfield second name varies though from Maryfield, (mainly Maxwell) but also Maywell, however I think they are all the same family as all baptisms are at St Leonard Hackney, spaced between 1827 and 1845. With the family was Lilian Ada THOMPSON Niece aged 11 At School, born Dundalk, Ireland 1871 25 Clinger Street, Shoreditch, London 1881 24 St Agatha Square, Shoreditch, London I believe Clara married as shown above. 1891 139 Cambridge Road, Bethnal Green, London. Children George aged 5, Hannah aged 2 and Rosina aged 7 months. (Clara and children all down as being born Middlesex, London) 1901 28 Burbeck Street, Bethnal Green, London. On this Census there is no Clara, but George is down as George B and down as married. Children with his were George Thomas aged 15 a Pawnbrokers Assistant and Hannah aged 12 both down as being born in Shoreditch, London. There was also a Thomas POPE adopted aged 7 born Bethnal Green, London 1911 41 Wenlock Street, Shoreditch, London. Clara is down as a Widow occupation Nursing and she has a son with her a John E aged 8 born Shoreditch, London. 1871 25 Clinger Street, Shoreditch, London 1871 25 Clinger Street, Shoreditch, London 1881 24 St Agatha Square, Shoreditch, London 1891 Preston Cavalry Barracks, Brighton, Sussex 1901 77 Buckland Street, Hoxton Old Town, Shoreditch, London. Have not found a first marriage for George Ernest, he was single in 1901 and a widower on his marriage to Jane COOKSLEY, she was down as a widow. However on the 1911 Census there is a George THOMPSON born 1868 Hoxton ,Shoreditch, Middlesex, a Packer with a wife Georgina, they have been married 8 years, so 1903 approximately, she is down as being 45 and they have a son George aged 10 born 1901 he is at school. Georgina is aged 45 and born in Brighton, so possible this is the correct couple. If correct he married Georgina HASTINGS in March quarter 1902 in Brighton district, Sussex. 1916 23 Great Easter Buildings, Great Eastern Street, EC (Father of Jane COOKSLEY - James DODD (Carman (deceased)) Information has been confirmed by a Neil C THOMPSON in Australia about marriage to Georgina HASTINGS. I am told they had two children Lilian Ada Thompson born 1897 Dundalk, County Louth, Ireland and George Ernest Thompson born 1901 Brighton. Information for Georgina Ruth HASTINGS 1869 3 Seabright Street, Bethnal Green, London (at baptism) Father George HASTING a Cabinet Maker, Mother - Ellen 1871 25 Clinger Street, Shoreditch, London 1881 24 St Agatha Square, Shoreditch, London 1891 28 Cavendish Street, Hoxton New Town, Shoreditch, London 1901 33 Crondall Street, Hoxton Old Town, Shoreditch, London. 1911 6 H Georges Square Hoxton W. Emily is down as having been married 21 years and having had 7 children 5 of whom survive at the date of this census and two of whom have died. 1874 Clinger Street, Shoreditch, London (baptism of Alice Ada) 1881 24 St Agatha Square, Shoreditch, London 1891 9 Derby Houses (Garden Walk) (Model Block) Shoreditch South, Shoreditch, London. 1892 26 Lenthall Road, Haggerston, Hackney, London (address at marriage). Father Alexander THOMPSON, Lawyer's Clerk. 1901 13 Derby Road, South west Hackney, Hackney, London 1911 169 Haggerston Road, Hackney, London. Alice is down as having been married 19 years and having had three children all of whom survive.
